Eleven games on tap for the evening. The experts were all over stacks tonight as you can read about in today’s MLB Expert Consensus. Brad will be out all week so Stephen and I will take over. Hopefully, that means a pocket full of cash for everyone and a big push to the positive ROI number.
Here is a list of the “rules” we are following when constructing lineups:
- We will make two separate lineups for each site (FanDuel and DraftKings), one for Cash games and one for GPP tournaments.
- For Cash games, we will build the core of our lineup from the Consensus list using any player listed regardless of what tier they are in and will be allowed to choose 1 player that is not on the Consensus list that we consider to be a good play.
- For GPP games, we are allowed to choose up to add 2-3 players that are not on the Consensus list to help complete a hitter stack or we consider to be a good play.
- We can modify any lineup as we see fit for any late-breaking lineup news that opens up good options even if they are not on the Consensus list.
As always be sure to check for late-breaking news regarding weather and lineups.
Entrant – Matt – FanDuel
Cash Game Lineup
Cash Narrative – Could not find a way to squeeze Jose Fernandez in my lineup given the restrictions of our rules. Running Kluber out there is a pretty solid alternative though. His strikeout upside is limited against the Royals lineup though. My lone off the board play is Franco. I know it’s Jose Fernandez but Franco offers homerun potential every time he steps to the plate and I’ll take that potential at a low cost.
GPP Lineup
GPP Narrative – Ivan Nova has been a punching bag so let’s hope that continues tonight as I’ve stacked the 3-4-5 in the O’s lineup. A triumvirate of Tigers as well with Kinsler, Cabrera and Upton…though they are spread out through the lineup. I’ll also play a short stack, or suited connectors as Brad calls them, with Diaz and Piscotty. My only off the board play is about as risky as it gets. The White Sox offense has been awful…something to the tune of one run in the last 40 innings. Therefore, I will play Wade LeBlanc at the P position. This could not work out well…or it could be genius.

Cash Game Lineup
Cash Narrative – Well our consensus made it difficult to find much value, so instead of going with a Lester/Fernandez combo like I wanted, we get this. I love the Tigers today against Nolasco, but it sounds like everyone is, so Coors may actually be a pivot to the Tigers, especially with the weather pending. I wish Leake were cheaper, but he isn’t and has a decent matchup. (Note, I am VERY tempted to switch to Nola who should have a ton of regression, so don’t be surprised if I change that).
GPP Lineup
GPP Narrative – I actually think the Rockies/Rays game could be lower (MAYBE), or Smyly could continue to suck instead of steering into his positive regression that should be looming. Note: I had Tyler Anderson here, who has pitched well, and I may go back to that (I am all over the place, I know, forgive me). So yea, Smyly and Alvarez are my off-the-board plays (crossing fingers that Smyly leaves me satisfied and smiling at that price with his K upside.)

Cash Game Lineup
Cash Narrative – Where is Chris Sale? I feel like now that I am typing all of this, he is missing. Anyway, Tigers with Fernandez here and that Leake guy shows up again.
GPP Lineup
GPP Narrative – Schoop and Finnegan (oh man, are the Braves really scaring me?) are my off-the-board plays. Tropeano doesn’t make my fantasy pants go crazy, but he’s there at a cheap price, but the Rangers are struggling at the moment. Good luck all!
