Power 5 Looks at Top Plays for Week 7 Early Slate
It’s one of the best weekends in college football….Texas-OU weekend.
I have Big 12 bias, but OU-Texas is the best rivalry game of the entire year. It’s typically the most competitive, and no matter how good the teams are, anything can happen.
I don’t like how the Big 12 has 10 teams and a title game, and these two teams can now meet twice a year, theoretically (in 2018 it did happen), so that ruins the anticipation a bit for me the second time around, and does water down the rivalry a bit.
Nonetheless, we have a really great OU-Texas rivalry game on tap early on in the Metroplex.
We also have a solid week overall in college football for DFS, both the early and late slates on DraftKings have worthy tournaments and games worth putting money down on.
Last week, I really despised the evening slate on DK, so I didn’t write anything up for us and I threw one dart just to have some action.
This week, however, the late slate is on my radar, so be looking for that write up Thursday evening.
But let’s take a look at the early slate, where we have 12 games on DK to sift through.
And before I get into my selections, I have a preface…
Quarterbacks up top are fire. I can make a case for the top-8 priced QBs for this slate. So for that reason, I have only picked one out of the 8 to focus on, but in all transparency, the top 8 will be in all of my lineups this weekend.
The same can be said at receiver. Washington State is on this slate and every single receiver that gets tons of playing time and targets is on the table for this slate. Me picking out just one for the Power 5 doesn’t make sense, play them all. I will be rotating them in and out of my lineups.
Running back feels the weakest to me this week as some of the top options have really tough matchups. But the opportunity will be there, so Jonathan Taylor is certainly in play despite a tough matchup against Michigan State.
For some of these guys, they had to break tiebreakers such as matchup and price, but also opportunity vs. matchup and then factoring in that usage and success we should see by that player. Other guys below are to provide value in your lineups to fit in the studs.
Good luck!
Collin Johnson – WR – Texas – $5,200
Analysis: Collin Johnson was Texas’ best receiver in 2018. But he’s barely played in 2019. I felt like there were some times where Johnson would return from injury after the LSU game, but I think it’s pretty clear Texas was saving him and making sure he’s ready to go this week. Johnson practiced earlier in the week and I am 99% sure that Texas wants their biggest and quickest receiver as healthy as possible for their regular-season Super Bowl. And with that, comes Johnson’s cheapest price we will see all season if he plays. OU opened as 3.5-point favorites and have been bet up to 10.5-point favorites. So if you believe Texas will be playing from behind or this game shoots out, then you should be playing Johnson at a stellar price point this week in the best game on the slate.
