MLB DFS – On the Hill – April 7th
MLB DFS Picks – April 7th
Opening Day has finally arrived! With some early cancellations and differences between the sites, today’s article will focus on the DraftKings main slate. My “On the Hill” article will take on a little bit of a different look this season as I fully commit to my “Suited Connectors” strategy. See the Hitting Connection section for more details. Let’s start the year off with a free article…

Pitchers
Ace
Shane Bieber (FD-$10,400 / DK-$8,300)
Bieber carries some risk after only getting 16 starts last season due to injury. However, he appears to be healthy to start this season and has been dominant whenever he has been on the mound during his career. He has a career 30.9% strikeout rate and is a road favorite against the Royals.
Value
Max Fried (FD-$9,300 / DK-$9,000)
Fried is more of a “value” on FanDuel than on DraftKings. This spot was a close race between Fried and Yu Darvish, but I’m going to give the edge to Fried with the Braves as the biggest Vegas favorite on the slate against a depleted Reds lineup.
Darkhorse
Shohei Ohtani (FD-$10,500 / DK-$7,000)
Ohtani is a much better option on DraftKings than FanDuel due to the big salary discrepancy. He faces a tough matchup against the Astros but is capable of wiping out any lineup when he has his control and stuff. He might only pitch 4-5 innings but that could be the case for many starters in their first start or two, so Ohtani could still be the highest scoring pitcher on the slate.
Hitting Connections
I have mentioned and toyed around with my “Suited Connectors” concept for a couple of years and this season I plan to go “all-in” with the strategy. The premise is to use 3 or 4 mini team stacks using 2-3 players who are near each other in their lineup when building your DFS lineup. I feel this lineup construction is very versatile and can be used in Cash lineups, Leagues (3, 5, 20-man), Single-Entry GPPs, and 3-entry Max GPPs. It gives your lineup both a high floor and high ceiling potential.
