JD Yonke of Covers swept Thursday night, going 2-0 for +1.87u with Florida Atlantic +6.5 and the Over 72.5 in the Owls’ 60-29 rout of UTSA; that evens his season record with us at 9-9. Chris Amberley (SportsBettingDime) also went 2-0 (+1.82u) on the same Over plus James Madison -14.5, pushing his season to 14-8, +4.69u. The Gold Sheet (WagerTalk) posted the busiest winning night at 4-1, +1.80u — FAU +7, both Overs and James Madison on the moneyline — and now sits 38-33-1 on the season.
College Football News staffers E and Clucko the Chicken each went 2-0 (+1.82u) taking Florida Atlantic and James Madison, and the Odds Shark Computer finished 3-1 (+1.69u). Across the field we graded 62 picks from 33 experts: 30-32, -5.51u.
The consensus card went 1-1 for -0.15u. Both plays were LEAN, and LEAN went 1-1 (-0.15u); there were no STRONG plays on Thursday. The Over 72.5 in UTSA-Florida Atlantic won by 16.5 points, and Southern Miss +470 lost, 54-23. Every play is graded at the line we posted.
What actually happened
Florida Atlantic 60, UTSA 29. The Over was settled before halftime: FAU led 35-22 at the break, so 57 points were already on the board against a 72.5 total. Caden Veltkamp threw for 210 yards and four touchdowns with no interceptions, wide receiver Easton Messer had four total touchdowns (three receiving, one passing), and the Owls ran for 339 yards — 126 from Leonard Farrow on 12 carries and three rushing scores from AJ Johnson. Deshaun Batiste forced and recovered a fumble at the UTSA 4 after halftime, and FAU finished with six sacks. The underdog Owls won outright by 31, so every UTSA -6.5 and -7 ticket lost and every FAU +6.5 and +7 ticket cashed.
James Madison 54, Southern Miss 23. The upset case looked live for a half — JMU led only 16-14 at the break — and then the Dukes took over in the second half, building a 44-14 lead by the middle of the fourth quarter. JC Evans threw for 251 yards and ran for three touchdowns. Nothing unusual swung it; the Southern Miss moneyline was beaten on the merits. The 77 combined points also put every Under (56.5, 57.5, 58.5) on the losing side and every Over on the winning one.
