NHL Sportsbook Consensus Grading Recap — Saturday, November 7, 2026
Josh Schonwald (Doc’s Sports) went 4-0 for +3.75u on Saturday, cashing the Rangers in Seattle, the Senators over Utah, the Lightning in overtime in Minnesota and the Penguins at +114 in Los Angeles. That moves him to 15-11 (+4.17u) on the season with us. Chris Ruffolo (Pick Dawgz) was 3-0 for +2.57u on the Capitals, the Predators and the Oilers -1.5, and Nick Martin (Action Network) and Phil Naessens (Covers) each went 2-0 for +1.58u.
Daniel Dobish (RotoWire) added a 3-1 night (+1.17u) and is now 10-2 (+6.33u) with us, the best hit rate on the NHL board. CBS Sports, the most heavily weighted voice in the consensus, went 14-10 across its 24 picks and stands 79-45-2 (+15.00u) for the season. We logged and graded 133 picks from 35 experts across all 12 games.
The consensus card went 6-4 for +0.19u. STRONG 6-2 (+2.19u), LEAN 0-2 (-2.00u). The STRONG losses were Kings ML (Penguins won 5-2) and Under 6.5 in Chicago-Carolina (11 goals). The LEAN losses were Kraken ML (Rangers won 4-3) and Stars -1.5 (Dallas won 4-3). Every play is graded at the line we posted.
What actually happened
Carolina’s puck line was never in doubt. The Hurricanes led 4-0 after one period and 7-0 after two, and Spencer Knight was pulled with 9:24 left in the second after allowing six goals on 17 shots. Jordan Martinook and Andrei Svechnikov scored twice each in a 9-2 win. The same result sank the STRONG Under 6.5: the experts expected a tight game with Knight in net for Chicago, and the Hurricanes cleared the total on their own.
The Devils needed a third-period comeback. Ilya Sorokin made 45 saves and the Islanders led 4-2 going into the third. Luke Evangelista scored at 6:08 and Dougie Hamilton tied it on the power play at 13:42. The Over 5.5 had already cashed at 4-4, and Jack Hughes won it on a breakaway 1:18 into overtime. Tampa Bay also needed overtime in Minnesota. Dennis Hildeby started in goal rather than the expected Andrei Vasilevskiy, Charle-Edouard D’Astous tied it 3-3 on a 6-on-4 power play at 16:29 of the third, and Nikita Kucherov won it on the power play at 3:23 of overtime.
In Toronto, Alex Newhook scored twice in the first and Jacob Fowler made 26 saves as Montreal won 4-2. The Leafs pulled within 3-2 before Zachary Bolduc’s power-play goal at 12:15 of the third. In Edmonton, Devon Levi made 20 saves in his return from injury; he was listed on IR when the card posted. Leon Draisaitl scored on the power play early in the third and then hit the empty net with 45 seconds left. That goal turned a 3-2 game into the 4-2 margin that covered -1.5.
The Kings lost on the merits. Tommy Novak scored twice in the first five-plus minutes, Egor Chinakhov added a power-play goal late in the first, and Sergei Murashov made 26 saves. Sidney Crosby restored the lead late in the second and finished it into an empty net, 5-2 Pittsburgh. In Seattle, the premise behind the LEAN changed before puck drop: Joonas Korpisalo, not Dylan Garand, started for New York and made 25 saves in his Rangers debut. Joey Daccord was pulled after allowing three goals in the first 14 minutes, and the Kraken’s three third-period goals left them one short, 4-3. In Dallas, the Stars scored three power-play goals and led 4-2, but Will Smith’s 5-on-3 goal late in the second made it 4-3. There was no empty-net goal, so Dallas -1.5 lost by half a goal.

Best call: Hurricanes -1.5 (STRONG, -175). Carolina led 4-0 after the first period and 7-0 after the second, and chased Spencer Knight with 9:24 left in the second. The margin was settled long before an empty net could matter, and it finished 9-2.
Worst beat: Stars -1.5 (LEAN, -118). Dallas scored three power-play goals and led 4-2, but Will Smith’s 5-on-3 goal at 17:02 of the second made it 4-3. Neither team scored in the third and San Jose never pulled its goalie into an empty-net goal, so the cover fell half a goal short.
