CFB – Expert Recap and Grades – Week 1 (Sept 12)
CFB DFS Recap Week 1
CFB is back…sort of. We got a very limited slate in Week 1 and will get another one this coming week. It’ll really be the last weekend of September before things really get going. That said, with the news from the Big 10 yesterday, we might get a somewhat normal season beginning in October. Be sure to check out our full CFB Expert Grading and make sure you’re reading our weekly Consensus article which we will try to get up on Friday evenings this season. If not Friday, it’ll be up Saturday mornings around 9am CT.
As a reminder, most of our CFB content will be part of our premium membership. Now is a great time to sign up for our premium content so you are all set for the football, CFB and NFL, season! Our premium membership will get you access to all of our content!
Be sure to come back each week for a review of the Industry Consensus picks highlighting the top (and bottom) grades for the week and season from the experts we are tracking.
On to the Week 1 grades, class is in session!
Consensus Recap – Week 1
Week 1 (Score: 2.70 / Rank 7th out of 13) – The Consensus started the 2020 season finishing right in the middle of the pack. Five of the 23 consensus plays scored “A” or better with four “A+” scores.
Head of the Class – Week 1
Each week I will highlight a few of the top experts for the week. Here are the experts that deserve a “gold star” for Week 1 based on their cumulative grades for all players they touted this week.
#1) Athlon Sports (Score: 4.29) scored two “A+” grades with their seven plays in Week 1.
#2) DFS Karma (Score: 4.00) was pretty even across the board but two grades of “A” or better put them in the top-2.
#3A) RG Consensus (Score: 3.67) hauled in two “A+” grades to start the season.
#3B) RG Lineup HQ Top-3 (Score: 3.67) scored “A” or better with three of their nine plays.
Head of the Class – Week 1 (By Position)
Sometimes there is just that one class that you excel in. In this section, I will highlight who the top experts were at each position for Week 11.
QB – Rotowire (10.00) played K-State’s Skylar Thompson for their only QB play and an “A+” score.
RB – RG Consensus (4.67) scored an “A+” and two “C’s” with their three RB plays.
WR – Athlon Sports (4.33) scored an “A+,” a “B” and a failing grade in Week 1 at the WR spot.
Study Time – Week 1
If we are going to give a gold star to the top experts of the week, we also need to determine which experts might need to put in some extra study time to pull up those grades. Here are the Week 1 experts that didn’t make the grade this week.
- DFS Army Cheat Sheet (Score: 1.43) struggled in Week 1 with four of their seven plays scoring “D” or worse.
- Sportsline (Score: 1.33) finished at the bottom of the standings in Week 1.
Extra Credit – Week 1
In this section, I will look to give some extra credit to experts that received an A+ grade for a player where they were the lone expert to recommend. Week 1 extra credit goes to the following:
A+ – Jonathan Adams, Jr. (Athlon Sports)
A+ – Kyren Williams (NumberFire)
A+ – Christian Anderson (RG Consensus)
A+ – Peter LeBlanc (Rotowire Optimizer)
