NFL DFS Showdown – Week 3 (Thursday) – CAR v HOU
The nation could be asleep by halftime of this week’s Thursday night game with the Panthers as an eight-point favorite on the road against the Texans. Building DFS lineups for the showdown slate could be almost as boring as the game with an obvious Captain choice (in Cash at least). The tricky part comes with which value options to fill in at the bottom of your lineup.

Carolina Panthers @ Houston Texans
- Christian McCaffrey – Duh! I don’t care what his salary is, McCaffrey in the Captain spot in Cash lineups is the only way to go.
- Sam Darnold – I’m tempted to go with a Panthers WR (DJ Moore or Robby Anderson) instead of Darnold as I think one of them will outscore the Panthers QB, but if you get the decision wrong it will hurt your chances of cashing and doesn’t help much at the backend of your roster.
- David Johnson – Johnson should get plenty of snaps and potential touches with the Texans expected to be playing from behind and with a rookie QB making his first start. Check down city!
- Chuba Hubbard – I’m likely rounding out my Cash lineup with a trio of Panthers priced in the low to mid-range. Hubbard got eight carries last week to fill in for McCaffrey and could get some mop-up duty again on the short week. He has the potential to bust a long TD run.
I think you should pivot away from McCaffrey in the Captain slot in GPPs just to get a little different than the field. I’m looking at taking a flier at Captain with Terrace Marshall in the hopes that he breaks out this week. This savings at Captain helps me jam in both QBs, McCaffrey, and Brandin Cooks while taking a flier on another Texans WR in the final spot.
