NFL DFS Showdown – Week 8 (Monday) – MIA v PIT
Another primetime matchup on Monday night and potentially another blowout with the Steelers favored by two touchdowns at home against the Dolphins. At least DraftKings is starting to get smart and price up some of the obvious plays to make lineup construction decisions more challenging. King
- Steelers D/ST – James Conner has a “King” price tag of over $20k. And while he will still be popular and might be worth it, I like how my lineup comes together much more using the Steelers D/ST instead. The Steelers have had double-digit DK points in four straight games and faces a Dolphins offense that has allowed 4.0 sacks and 2.2 turnovers per game this season.
Cash Core
- James Conner – If Conner isn’t in your King slot then he has to be included in the Cash core. The Dolphins rank 30th DVOA against the run and have allowed 139 rushing yards (32nd) per game to RBs on 4.78 YPC (27th).
- Mason Rudolph – This spot could be a toss-up between Rudolph and JuJu Smith-Schuster, but I think that Rudolph is a little safer just in case he feeds another WR not named JuJu. The Dolphins pass defense ranks 32nd DVOA should Rudolph should be able to put together a solid game.
- Mark Walton – With Kenyan Drake on his way out of the town via trade, Walton officially takes over as the primary back for the Dolphins. He had 15 touches in the last game and should also absorb some of the targets that were going to Drake out of the backfield. The only concern with Walton is Kalen Ballage stealing the goal line carries.
GPP
I can’t bring myself to pivot to the Dolphins offense, so instead I’ll load up on the Steelers passing game by using Rudolph in the King slot and then pairing him with a couple of his pass-catchers including James Washington. You can still fit in James Conner and then look to use Albert Wilson for the Dolphins and hope that he can break a long one.
