Well we are certainly off to a better start then last week when I wasn’t able to get this puppy posted until the wee hours of the morning. It’s a good thing because we have a TON of picks in our Consensus write-up this week. Adding more experts, means more picks. More picks means more data points for our readers and hopefully some dynamite insight from guys that know what they’re doing. As always, check out our Daily Overlay CFB Scores at the link. A newcomer, Rob O’Conner from venoDFS.com, took the top honors last week and that vaulted him to the top of the season-long scores. Overall, it was a down week last Saturday and our experts are looking for a bounce back. Can’t nobody take their pride, can’t nobody hold them down (whoa no!), they’ve got to keep on piiiiicking. Man, that was bad…apologies!
As for your television viewing, it’s a bit of a down week again with Notre Dame and Temple being the only intra-top 25 matchup. Just wait until you look at the Week Ten schedule though. Surviving another crap week of football will be well worth it next Saturday.
As I mentioned, we have a ton of picks so let’s get to it.
Quarterback
Highly Touted
Dane Evans (9x) – There will be absolutely zero defense played at Gerald Ford Stadium in Dallas on Saturday. The O/U for this game is 75.5 so there will be plenty of Golden Hurricane and Ponies in today’s write-up.
Patrick Mahomes (9x) – Mahomes is night and day different when you look at his home vs road splits. He takes on a tough Oklahoma State defense that leads the nation in sacks.
Recommended
Paxton Lynch (6x) – Memphis is on a roll and the Green Wave will put up little resistance. The only risk here is that Memphis is so far ahead that Lynch gets pulled early.
Greg Ward (6x) – Ward gets to face an SEC defense tomorrow. Granted it’s Vandy but it will still be a stiffer challenge than he’s seen all season.
Matt Davis (6x) – Remember what I said about the no defense thing in Dallas. Davis is sure to put up big numbers against a phantom Tulsa defense.
Baker Mayfield (5x) – Another risk of being pulled early here. Oklahoma takes on the Jayhawks and should light up the scoreboard. Lincoln Riley committed to the run last week so we’ll see if that continues.
Suggested
Thomas Sirk (4x) – Sirk takes on a Miami defense that gave up half-a-hundred to Clemson last week.
Joshua Dobbs (4x) – I said in my post last week that I thought Tennessee would give Bama all they could handle and I was correct. Dobbs has the talent to put up monster numbers.
Mason Rudolph (4x) – This is the first appearance for the gun slinger from Stillwater. Two big risks here. He has played awful on the road this year. And he gets pulled in the redzone due to J.W. Walsh being a touchdown machine on the read option
Cody Kessler (3x) – Kessler led the Trojans to a big win against previously undefeated Utah. A road game against a bad Cal defense should provide little resistance.
Ryker Fyfe (3x) – Fyfe gets the start for an injured Tommy Armstrong. Be wary of playing backups.
Perry Hills (3x) – Maryland is bad and is facing a touch Iowa team on the road. I’d stay away from this play.
Karson Roberts (3x) – Roberts rushed for 92 yards and four touchdowns last week.
Running Back
Highly Touted
Jeremy McNichols (10x) – Boise is a 20 point favorite. McNichols is really good.
Christian McCaffrey (10x) – He has put himself in the top-3 of the Heisman conversation. He won’t win it but he’s putting up big numbers every week.
Devontae Booker (9x) – Booker had his worst game of the year last week. Part of that was due to Utah playing from behind and throwing the ball.
Samaje Perine (8x) – Perine ran for over 200 yards last week. Last season, against KU, he ran for over 400 yards.
Recommended
Tra Carson (6x) – We may not know who the A&M quarterback will be but we know Carson is the running back. He has only topped 100 yards twice.
Suggested
Soso Jamabo (4x) – He has begun to get more carries. Paul Perkins is still present but the freshman, Jamabo, is getting reps.
C.J. Prosise (4x) – I think ND will dominate tomorrow night and Prosise will have a big night.
Joe Mixon (4x) – Mixon went over 150 yards on Saturday. I mentioned earlier that OC Lincoln Riley committed to the run. If he keeps it up, Mixon will continue putting up numbers.
Akrum Wadley (4x) – Wadley went over 200 yards and had four touchdowns last week against Northwestern.
Brandon Wilds (4x) – Wilds takes on an A&M defense that Ole Miss ran wild on last week.
Myles Gaskin (3x) – Gaskin has topped 100 yards with a touchdown in each of the last three games.
Johnathan Gray (3x) – Gray has not lived up to the hype that he had coming into Austin four years ago. He has yet to go over 100 yards this season.
Jalen Hurd (3x) – Hurd takes a stab at the Kentucky defense. The Vols keep looking better each week and Hurd is helping shoulder that load.
Wide Receiver
Highly Touted
JuJu Smith-Schuster (11x) – JuJu and Cody Kessler have proven to be pretty formidable. They’re going to keep in rolling in Berkeley.
Keyarris Garrett (10x) – Garrett continues to dominate since Keevan Lucas went down earlier in the season. That will continue in Dallas tomorrow.
Will Fuller (7x) – As I said before, I expect ND to roll the Owls in Philly.
Courtland Sutton (7x) – It looks weird seeing position players from SMU show up in a Consensus article. That just shows how bad Tulsa’s defense actually is.
Recommended
Christian Kirk (5x) – The A&M receiving corps is full of talent. The problem has been Kyle Allen actually getting them the ball. We’ll see if Allen is still the man trying to get them the ball on Saturday.
Gabe Marks (5x) – Hi, I’m Gabe Marks and you see me here every week.
Alex Erickson (5x) – If Wisconsin is throwing it, he’s the one catching it.
Laquon Treadwell (5x) – The Rebs go as Chad Kelly goes. Same thing with Treadwell. Saturday against Auburn should provide opportunities to score.
Suggested
Joshua Atkinson (4x) – He has firmly planted himself as Dane Evans’ second option behind Garrett. That is not a bad place to be considering how Tulsa slings the ball all over.
Demarcus Ayers (4x) – Ayers will face his stiffest test this year with Vandy coming to town.
Mose Frazier and Anthony Miller (4x) – The Memphis duo was each picked four times. Probably not a bad idea to squeeze one (or both) of these guys into a lineup tomorrow.
Dom Williams and River Cracraft (3x) – The Wazzu duo was each picked three times. Luke Falk continues to top 400 yards and spreads the ball around between these two and Gabe Marks.
Pharoh Cooper (3x) – Cooper and the ‘Cocks will likely put up some points in College Station.
Sterling Shepard (3x) – As mentioned above, Shepard runs the risk of only playing half the game due to the Sooners pounding the Jayhawks.
Nelson Spruce (3x) – Spruce is about as consistent as you can get. Won’t put up super flashy numbers but won’t throw out a dud. The Buffs should be down early which means they’ll throw it plenty.
Jakeem Grant (3x) – Patrick Mahomes in Lubbock is a completely different player. The Red Raiders are averaging almost 60 points/game at home.
Jordan Payton (3x) – The UCLA wideout has managed at least six catches/game over the last four. He has plenty of opportunities to make plays.
Once again, it would be wise to find a spot for some Tulsa and SMU players for Saturday. There is a slight chance of rain in Dallas so keep an eye out for that. Good luck and let’s get that cash!
