Turkey week is always a bit of an odd one. We had some experts that normally provide plays that did not get picks graded for the Sunday games. That said, we still had 18 experts that provided plays. Not much movement in the overall leaderboard. Sportsline rode the momentum of being the top expert this week back into our season-long top-5. On to the Week 12 grades, class is in session!
Consensus Recap – Week 12
The Consensus posted the same number of picks as last week in Week 12. Forty-five total picks for a 14th place finish and a decent Daily Overlay score of 2.93. Eighteen of those picks finished with a failing grade while we had eight “A+” scores. A position-by-position breakdown is below.
QB (Score: 2.50 / Rank 15th out of 18) – A lot of middle-of-the-road scores at the QB spot last week. The standout was Russell Wilson and his “A+” score.
RB (Score: 3.70 / Rank 8th out of 18) – An above average finish for the Consensus at the position. Consensus was lifted by “A+” scores from Tevin Coleman, Joe Mixon and Alvin Kamara.
WR (Score: 2.50 / Rank 14th out of 18) – The score was relatively the same but the finish in the standings a bit lower. Julio Jones and Cooper Kupp scored “A+” grades while Brandin Cooks and Mohamed Sanu added “A” scores.
TE (Score: 2.86 / Rank 8th out of 18) – Two grades of “A” or better. Those came from Gronk with an “A+” and Jack Doyle with an “A” grade.
D/ST (Score: 3.75 / Rank 10th out of 15) – Of the four Consensus plays, two were good and two were bad. An “A+” from the Eagles and an “A” from the Jags were the good. Failing grades from the Bengals and Falcons were the bad.
Head of the Class – Week 12
Each week I will highlight a few of the top experts for the week. Here are the experts that deserve a “gold star” for Week 12 based on their cumulative grades for all players they touted this week.
#1) Sportsline (Score: 5.00) brought home the bacon in Week 12. Five of their nine plays scored “A” or better including “A+” grades from Russell Wilson, Joe Mixon, Julio Jones and Gronk.
#2) ProFootballFocus (Score: 4.06) found the top-3 for the week as seven of their 16 plays scored “A” or better. They received “A+” grades out of Wilson, Alvin Kamara, Tevin Coleman and Cooper Kupp.
#3) Rotowire (Score: 3.86) put up a decent week to lay claim to the final top-3 spot. Three of their seven plays score “A” or better including “A+’s” from Wilson and Coleman.
Top Value – Sportsline (3.40 DK Pts/$1000) took the “Top Value” title this week.
Head of the Class – Week 12 (By Position)
Sometimes there is just that one class that you excel in. In this section, I will highlight who the top experts were at each position for Week 12.
QB – Rotowire, DailyFantasyNerd, Sportsline (10.00) all played Russell Wilson for their “A+” grade.
RB – Sportsline (7.50) received an “A+” from Mixon and an “A” from Frank Gore to take the top spot.
WR – RotoGrinders Lineup Builder (4.33) played Kupp and his “A+” along with Sammy Watkins and Emmanuel Sanders who scored a “B” and “F” respectively.
TE – Sportsline (10.00) and Gronk took home the top spot with an “A+” on their lone selection.
DST – Daily Overlay – Hot Sheet (5.67) pulled in an “A+” from the Eagles, an “A” from the Jags and a “C” from the Raiders for Brad’s three plays.
Study Time – Week 12
If we are going to give a gold star to the top experts of the week, we also need to determine which experts might need to put in some extra study time to pull up those grades. Here are the Week 12 experts that didn’t make the grade this week.
- DailyFantasyCafe (Score: 2.61) scored a failing grade with thirteen of their 28 selections in Week 12.
- Rotoballer (Score: 1.29) performed very poorly in Week 12 as three of their seven plays failed and their highest grade was a “B” score.
Extra Credit – Week 12
In this section, I will look to give some extra credit to experts that received an A+ grade for a player where they were the lone expert to recommend. Week 12 extra credit goes to the following:

Head of the Class – Season
Here are the top experts in the Overall Standings after Week 12 of the season, including which site has provided the top DraftKings points per $1000 of salary. We had a slight shakeup at the top this week.
#1) Rotowire (Score: 3.99) held basically steady but dropped .01 to fall below the 4.0 threshold for the year.
#2) FantasyTeamAdvice (Score: 3.69) didn’t make any movement due to no picks being graded.
#3) RotoGrinders Lineup Builder (Score: 3.61) stays in the #3 slot with the slightest of .01 bumps in score.
#4) ProFootballFocus (Score: 3.55) hopped up a spot to #4 by increasing their score .05.
#5) Sportsline (Score: 3.51) leaps back into the top-5 with a really nice week. Their optimizer jumped their score .14 in Week 12.
Top Value – DK Playbook (2.91 DK Pts/$1000)
The DailyOverlay Industry Consensus fell back another spot this week to 17th place in the overall standings out of 21 experts.
