Just as I said we’d be hard-pressed to have a better overall week for the experts, Week 7 rolled around. It might not have been as good but it was good nonetheless. Rotowire has taken over the top spot in the season leaderboard but FantasyTeamAdvice and GoingFor2 are nipping at the heels in a 2nd place tie. On to the Week 7 grades, class is in session!
Consensus Recap – Week 7
The Industry Consensus took a step in the wrong direction in Week 7 that led to a 16th place finish overall. This included sixteen “A+” grades! Below is a position by position breakdown of how the Consensus fared.
QB (Score: 5.43 / Rank 14th out of 21) – A nice score at the QB spot…but everyone had a nice score at the QB spot. “A+” grades from Tyrod Taylor, Dak Prescott and Russell Wilson led the way.
RB (Score: 3.44 / Rank 17th out of 21) – A similar score to last week but much lower finish. LeSean McCoy and Zeke Elliot led the way.
WR (Score: 1.76 / Rank 11th out of 21) – The WR spot was rough for everyone including the Consensus. Nine of the seventeen plays finished with a failing grade with the lone bright spot being Jarvis Landry and his “A+” grade.
TE (Score: 3.10 / Rank 11th out of 21) – A solid week from the Consensus TEs with four of the ten plays scoring “A” or better.
D/ST (Score: 2.78 / Rank 10th out of 18) – Middle of the pack finish with the D/ST picks. Three of the nine scored an “A” or better including the Chargers pitching a shutout for an “A+” grade.
Head of the Class – Week 7
Each week I will highlight a few of the top experts for the week. Here are the experts that deserve a “gold star” for Week 7 based on their cumulative grades for all players they touted this week.
#1) DailyFantasySportsRankings (Score: 5.43) topped the list of experts for Week 7. Eight of 14 selections scored an “A” or better including “A+” grades from Dak Prescott, Russell Wilson, Blake Bortles, Tyrod Taylor and Jarvis Landry.
#2) FantasyTeamAdvice (Score: 4.79) notched a nice output for the week with half of their 14 plays scoring “A” or better. They destroyed the QB and RB spots with “A+’s” from Wilson, Taylor, Zeke Elliott and LeSean McCoy.
#3) DailyFantasyNerd (Score: 4.63) put out another solid optimized lineup in Week 7. DFN saw half of their eight plays score “A” or better with “A+” grades from Taylor, Zeke and Evan Engram.
Top Value – FantasyTeamAdvice (3.22 DK Pts/$1000) took the “Top Value” title this week.
Head of the Class – Week 7 (By Position)
Sometimes there is just that one class that you excel in. In this section, I will highlight who the top experts were at each position for Week 7.
QB – Six Tied (10.00) with perfect scores for the week.
RB – FantasyTeamAdvice (7.67) hauled in two “A+” scores and a “B” for the week.
WR – DailyFantasySportsRankings (4.33) was all over the board for the week but it was enough to take top billing at the position. Jarvis Landry and his “A+” helped.
TE – DailyFantasyNerd (10.00) played Evan Engram for a perfect week at the TE spot.
DST – Rotowire, FantasyCPR (10.00) both utilized the Chargers for “A+” grades this week.
Study Time – Week 7
If we are going to give a gold star to the top experts of the week, we also need to determine which experts might need to put in some extra study time to pull up those grades. Here are the Week 7 experts that didn’t make the grade this week.
- FantasyCPR (Score: 2.55) didn’t pass the test in what was an outstanding week overall for the experts.
- DK Playbook (Score: 1.33) had their first really bad week of the season. We’ll see if they can bounce back in Week 8.
Extra Credit – Week 7
In this section, I will look to give some extra credit to experts that received an A+ grade for a player where they were the lone expert to recommend. Week 7 extra credit goes to the following:

Here are the top experts in the Overall Standings after Week 7 of the season, including which site has provided the top DraftKings points per $1000 of salary. We had a slight shakeup at the top this week.
#1) Rotowire (Score: 3.85) climbs atop the leaderboard after a solid two-week stretch.
#2A) FantasyTeamAdvice (Score: 3.81) used a big .16 jump to hop into the top-2 for the season.
#2B) GoingFor2 (Score: 3.81) holds on to a 2nd place tie after a steady Week 7.
#4) Daily Overlay – Value Index (Score: 3.69) takes a step back one spot in this week’s standings.
#5) RotoGrinders Lineup Builder (Score: 3.65) holds a slight edge for the final spot in the coveted top-5 leaderboard.
Top Value – DK Playbook (2.92 DK Pts/$1000)
The DailyOverlay Industry Consensus holds steady in 16th place in the overall standings out of 21 experts.
