What an exciting Sunday finish! We had 20+ guys in contention through the weekend. Robert Streb breaks his putter mid-way through his final round, yet somehow he managed to roll in five birdies with a wedge and was one five-foot par-save away from winning the thing outright. And Tiger was relevant! But maybe he should’ve followed Streb’s lead and gone with the 56 on the greens this week? (Low-hanging fruit, I’m sorry.)
For a second straight week, the tournament finished in a playoff. This time, Danny Lee took it down on the second playoff hole; defeating David Hearn, Robert Streb, and Kevin Kisner in the process. Lee had been knocking on the door recently, and he finally busted through for his first PGA Tour win. DraftKings user “jbzzahnow” cashed in big-time on Lee’s first win. He held off “cmmcbarn1” by a single point to win the $3 Drive the Green GPP. Here is what his $100,000 lineup looked like:

He maxed out his available salary and scored 592.5 points. Just like last week, three of his golfers appeared in our expert consensus list (Kisner, Streb, Bowditch). It seems like that list is a good place to start when you’re building a core for your lineups. Use a few guys who the experts like and fill in the rest with some you like. It’s a strategy that has worked a couple of weeks in a row now.
As far as roster construction goes, this is just a really solid lineup. This could easily be categorized as a “safe cash game lineup,” yet it beat out 95,824 other teams to take home the top spot and all the money. All six golfers are having strong 2015 seasons, and I wouldn’t call any of them a reach or punt. He was able to squeeze in six guys who all had a legitimate shot at winning the tournament. There’s something to be said for not getting too cute with your lineups.
You can file this one in the department of, “more than one way to win a GPP.” Let’s have a look at what the optimal Greenbrier lineup would have been:

You probably don’t need a calculator to see, there was a lot of salary left on the table. You could have fit Brendon de Jonge or Nick Watney in as your 7th golfer and still not have exceeded the cap! This lineup used $42,200 in salary and produced 640 points. Here, we have two popular picks in Kisner and Streb, three off-the-board picks in Hearn, Romero, and Owen, and champion Danny Lee who falls somewhere in the middle. Remember this the next time you’re making lineups; you don’t always need to spend up to the cap, especially in golf. If you believe in a set of golfers, play them. It’s more important to have the right guys than it is to spend all of your cap.

Of 14 Consensus Picks: two finished t-2 and participated in the playoff, three more finished around the top-10 and returned great value, and only four missed the cut. There were a number of ways to make money with this group, and hopefully you were able to do so.
Much like last week, Daniel Dobish of dailyroto.com and Pat Mayo of rotoexperts.com stood out from the rest of the pack. Mayo made 20 selections, seven returned “A” value or better, including two of the four playoff participants, and only four missed the cut. However, I’m going to give Dobish top honors for this week. He made five selections, two took part in the playoff (Kisner & Streb), Bubba scored 88.5 DK points, Noh returned fair value at -6 (t-37), and only one of his picks missed the cut (Wilcox).
Honorable mentions: Zachary Thompson of fansided.com killed it in terms of top-end talent. He had three of the four playoff participants, including eventual champion Danny Lee, and was the only one on Greg Owen (99.5 DK points).
TheFantasyGolf.com also hit three of the four playoff participants, and they were the only one on Bryce Molder (86 DK points).
Zachary Turcotte was the only tout on Chad Collins (only $5900 for 91 DK points), and he also mentioned taking a flier on amateur Maverick McNealy, who played well and was getting the Tiger treatment during his Saturday round on the Golf Channel.
