It should be a fun night of DFS baseball tonight with a bunch of Ace pitchers to choice from and some obvious teams to stack. It will be a challenge to make lineups which should generate a lot of diversity in ownership percentages.

Here is a list of the “rules” we are following when constructing lineups:

  1. We will make two separate lineups for each site (FanDuel and DraftKings), one for Cash games and one for GPP tournaments.
  2. For Cash games, we will build the core of our lineup from the Consensus list using any player listed regardless of what tier they are in and will be allowed to choose 1 player that is not on the Consensus list that we consider to be a good play.
  3. For GPP games, we are allowed to choose up to add 2-3 players that are not on the Consensus list to help complete a hitter stack or we consider to be a good play.
  4. We can modify any lineup as we see fit for any late-breaking lineup news that opens up good options even if they are not on the Consensus list.

As always be sure to check for late-breaking news regarding weather and lineups.

Cash Game Lineup

fd50505.17

Cash Narrative – Kershaw was impossible to fit in due to the Consensus restrictions. I think he’ll carve up the Angels; however, since I couldn’t fit him in my lineup, I hope he gets lit up. Noah Syndergaard is a rather solid alternative. Off the board with Nick Ahmed to make the salary work.

GPP Lineup

GPP Narrative – Never put your eggs in the basket of a struggling offense. I won’t make that mistake again as the Yankees continued their struggles last night to the dismay of their last-standing believer, yours truly. The Cubs should rock Chase Anderson like Rougie did Bautista’s face (this is the 2nd time I’ve used this reference this week) so I’ll stack them. A couple of short stacks with Kinsler/Maybin and Mercer/Joyce to fill out the lineup. Off the board plays were Maybin and Mercer (the M&M boys).

Cash Game Lineup

DK-Cash-May17

Cash Narrative – Managed to squeeze in Kershaw by taking the cheapest options from the Consensus List today and also taking an off the board play at catcher in Tommy Joseph at minimum salary batting cleanup against a lefty tonight.

GPP Lineup

DK-GPP-May17

GPP Narrative – Loading up on “chalk” hitters tonight with a five-man Cubs stack (using Baez as an off the board play) and then also getting exposure to the Twins/Tigers game. On the pitching side I went with two off the board plays with Pineda who was my Darkhorse pick in my On the Hill column today and pairing him with Hendricks who almost made the my article today as a Value play.

Lineup Narrative – So the start to my new venture with Fantasy Aces was close to cashing in a 50/50, but fell way short of cashing in a GPP. A reminder, I am submitting only one lineup and entering it into a GPP and a cash game. It’s kind of a boom or bust approach, but I am OK with it. Anyway, Kershaw gets the nod for me along with Jaime Garcia, who is incredibly cheap on Fantasy Aces. I did cheat just a bit with the Gregory Polanco play, but I was shocked to find Joyce not Gregory was on the Consensus. Gregory is one of my favorite plays of the day, so I am certainly not going to fade him against Aaron Blair’s .374 wOBA and .297 BAA against lefties. Montero gives me exposure to the Cubs despite him hitting 8th in the order (not something I love but he’s cheap). Freeman and Miggy are my BvP plays at 1B today. Freeman is always a favorite of mine with his ability to get you a HR and is always underowned. Then there’s Jorge Polanco. I am enacting the “scratch” rule here as Eduardo Nunez is out of the lineup today, surprisingly. Polanco is cheap, hitting in the two-hole against Mike Pelfrey’s .455 wOBA and 42.7% contact against lefties. I actually faded Twins right-handers today due to ownership and Pelfrey has been rather tough on RH batters, if you haven’t been paying attention. Gotta have a Dodger lefty against Jered “Nightmare” Weaver. Lastly, the Cardinals get reverse-splits pitcher Chad Bettis at home. The Cards are THE top hitting team against RH pitching and if I could’ve snuck in Matt Carpenter somewhere, I would’ve. Good luck all!
