The Overall Standings remained the same this week as they appear to be starting to stabilize as we past the mid-point of the season. It was a fun week of NBA DFS with at least eight games every night we graded this week and we continue to see the usual suspects show up at the top of the standings most nights. Meanwhile, our newest feature where we try to use the Industry Consensus picks to build an optimal lineup has continues to be a work in progress as we have had more losing nights than winning nights so far.
In this article, I will give a brief recap of each day we gathered and graded the experts, including how the Industry Consensus picks did, highlighting which experts were at the top for the day and which players were only called out by one or two experts, but produced an “A+” grade. I will also review the overall standings, highlighting the top experts so far this season. You can view the full NBA Overall Standings here. And finally, I will publish results of our new Lineup Construction initiative.
As a reminder, we are currently gathering selections and publishing the NBA Industry Consensus articles and NBA Consensus Lineup Construction articles each Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday during the NBA season, so be sure to check back about an hour or so before the first game tips off to get a look at the consensus picks and sample lineups for the day.

Monday night consisted of a solid 9 game slate of NBA action. The experts had a decent night but only one expert recorded a DailyOverlay score of 5.0.

The Industry Consensus picks didn’t fare as well finishing 12th out of 13 experts graded with a low DailyOverlay score of 3.52 for the day.

The Industry Consensus picks finished in the middle of the pack in 6th out of 12 experts graded with a solid DailyOverlay score of 4.85 for the day.

The Industry Consensus picks were near the middle of the pack again finishing in 7th place out of 12 experts graded with a fairly week DailyOverlay score of only 3.75.

#1) FakePigskin (Score: 5.11) holds onto first place in the overall standing for the second straight week led by two Top 3 finished this week including top honors on Tuesday.
#2) RotoGrinders NBA Grind Down (Score: 4.94) remains in second place again this week with another strong performance including three Top 2 finishes this week.
#3) DailyRoto (Score: 4.88) holds the third spot in the overall standings, but only finished in the Top 2 one time this week and has a couple experts(DailyOverlay-Double Stuffed and Moxyball-MoxyList) starting to close the gap on them for third place.
The Daily Overlay Industry Consensus picks (Score: 4.51) finished near the middle of the pack on most days this week which has allowed them to remain in 6th place in the overall standings out of a total of 14 experts graded this season.

Consensus Lineup Construction Review
We started a new feature at DailyOverlay a few weeks ago, where writers on our staff utilize the daily Industry Consensus article picks to build a sample DFS lineup for FanDuel and DraftKings.
Here is a list of the “rules” we are starting with when constructing the lineups:
- All players in our lineups come from the names listed in our consensus article, if possible. However, if one of those players is ruled out and we have time to put in that player’s backup or a player around the same salary, we will pivot to that player.
- We must use as many of the “Highly Touted” and “Recommended” players as possible, then fill in the remaining salary with players from the ”Suggested” player list. All of us submitting lineups will have some subjectivity to who we play based on the matchup when we need to fill out the remaining portion of our rosters.
We will have at least 1 DraftKings and 1 FanDuel lineup every night we write the Consensus article and enter them into a Cash (50/50 or Double Up) league and large-field GPP tournament. The results of those lineups will be provided in this section each week.

Stephen took over the FanDuel lineups this week and posted some solid scores, but fell just short of cashing each night. Look for an improved performance next week in his second run through building lineups on FanDuel using the Consensus picks.

Brad and Matt took over the DraftKings lineups this week. Monday was a success cashing in the 50/50 and just barely squeaking into the final cash spot for the GPP to turn a small profit. However, it went downhill after that failing to cash on any of the remaining days this week.

The overall results haven’t been pretty so far using the current “rules” that we are following when constructing our lineups each night. If this upcoming week doesn’t yield better results than we will explore making some modifications to the “rules” we use to construct our lineups going forward.
