With two weeks of the NFL season in the books, a few NFL DFS experts are starting to break away from the herd with FantasyTeamAdvice producing the best DailyOverlay score in Week 2 as they also sit atop the Overall Standings. However, there is a long way to go, so let’s see who can make a move in Week 3.
On to the Week 2 grades, class is in session!
Consensus Recap – Week 2
The Industry Consensus picks finished near the middle of the pack this week with a 13th place finish out of 21 experts graded.
QB (Score: 2.89 / Rank 12th out of 21) – Top play Ben Roethlisberger finished with an “A+” as the highest scoring QB of the week, while the fourth QB on the list Patrick Mahomes was the only other “A+” on the consensus list.
RB (Score: 5.56 / Rank 11th out of 21) – Most the experts nailed the top RB options in Week 2 resulting in high scores/grades and four “A+” RBs on the consensus list.
WR (Score: 1.58 / Rank 9th out of 21) – The experts didn’t do nearly as well with their WR recommendations which produced low scores/grades and only one “A+” wideout on the consensus (Michael Thomas).
TE (Score: 1.50 / Rank 9th out of 21) – The TE position was also a struggle for the experts this week with Zach Ertz producing the highest grade on the consensus with an “A”.
D/ST (Score: 3.33 / Rank 9th out of 19) – A solid defensive showing with the Rams receiving an “A+” as the most recommended defense, while two others (Chargers and Jets) also came in with “A” grades.
Head of the Class – Week 2
Each week I will highlight a few of the top experts for the week. Here are the experts that deserve a “gold star” for Week 2 based on their cumulative grades for all players they touted this week.
#1) FantasyTeamAdvice (Score: 4.27) led all experts in Week 2 with nine of their 15 selections receiving a “B” or better including “A+” recommendations of Ben Roethlisberger, Christian McCaffrey, Adam Thielen and the Rams defense.
#2) DailyFantasyCafe (Score: 3.96) had a strong week with 11 out of 27 picks receiving an “A” or better. Some of their top picks included Patrick Mahomes, Chris Thompson, Melvin Gordon, Tevin Coleman and Stefon Diggs.
#3) DailyFantasyNerd (Score: 3.89) produced three “A+” selection out of their nine plays with Patrick Mahomes, Melvin Gordon and Tevin Coleman leading the way.
Top Value – FantasyTeamAdvice (3.13 DK Pts/$1000) had good points per dollar production this week from Ben Roethlisberger, Christian McCaffrey and Kenny Golladay.
Head of the Class – Week 2 (By Position)
Sometimes there is just that one class that you excel in. In this section, I will highlight who the top experts were at each position for Week 2.
QB –RotoGrinders-Lineup Builder and DailyFantasyNerd (10.00) hit with Ben Roethlisberger and Patrick Mahomes, respectively.
RB – DailyFantasyNerd (10.00) crushed it at RB with plays Melvin Gordon and Tevin Coleman.
WR – FantasyTeamAdvice (4.67) blew away the competition at WR with Adam Thielen and Kenny Golladay.
TE – Rotoballer (6.00) led the way at TE with the selections of Austin Hooper and Jordan Reed.
DST – DailyFantasyCafe (7.50) hit it big with the two LA teams.
Study Time – Week 2
If we are going to give a gold star to the top experts of the week, we also need to determine which experts might need to put in some extra study time to pull up those grades. Here are the Week 2 experts that didn’t make the grade this week.
- DraftKings Playbook – Values (Score: 1.08) finished on the bottom this week with nine of their 12 selections receiving a “D” or “F”.
- ProFootballFocus (Score: 1.89) stayed out of the cellar but still had a down week with 10 “F” grades out of their 18 selections.
