We have reached about the quarter-way mark of the NFL season with four weeks of results behind us and the Overall Leaderboard is starting to take shape. GoingFor2 continues to lead the way on the season, followed by FantasyTeamAdvice. However, Week 4 was owned by DFSArmy and Sportsline, who are both coming on strong.

On to the Week 4 grades, class is in session!

Consensus Recap – Week 4

The Industry Consensus picks finished right in the middle of the pack this week with an 11th place finish out of 23 experts graded with our change to only use the Cash Game picks from the Consensus rankings.

QB (Score: 2.75 / Rank 16th out of 23) – Solid options with an “A” from Deshaun Watson and “B’s” from both Andy Dalton and Matt Ryan.

RB (Score: 6.17 / Rank 11th out of 23) – The experts crushed it at RB this week including the top three options all receiving an “A+” (Alvin Kamara) or “A” (Giovani Bernard/Ezekiel Elliott), plus another “A+” option with Melvin Gordon to round out the list.

WR (Score: 2.88 / Rank 17th out of 23) – The WR position was a little hit-or-miss. It had two “A+” options near the top with Sterling Shepard and Tyler Boyd but the rest of the options received a “D” or lower.

TE (Score: 2.50 / Rank 19th out of 23) – There were two solid “A” grades on the list with the top recommended option (Eric Ebron) along with Trey Burton but the other two options were duds.

D/ST (Score: 5.75 / Rank 8th out of 23) – Two “A+” option on the list including the Bears and Packers along with a “B” from the Jaguars made it a good week for the consensus picking D/ST.

Consensus Recap – Week 4 – GPP options

With the change to the Consensus rankings list in Week 4, I decided to add a little GPP section to the Recap article. Here are a few of the top plays that were on the GPP list this week. You did really well if you used a bunch of these guys in your GPP lineups.

QB – Mitchell Trubisky, Andrew Luck (top 2 scoring QBs)

RB – James White, Sony Michel (both good value RBs)

WR – Taylor Gabriel, DeAndre Hopkins, Golden Tate, Julio Jones (4 of the top 6 scoring WRs)

TE – Jared Cook, George Kittle (top 2 scoring TEs)

Head of the Class – Week 4

Each week I will highlight a few of the top experts for the week. Here are the experts that deserve a “gold star” for Week 4 based on their cumulative grades for all players they touted this week.

Head of the Class – Week 4 (By Position)

Sometimes there is just that one class that you excel in. In this section, I will highlight who the top experts were at each position for Week 4.

QB – DailyFantasySportsRankings / FantasyTeamAdvice / Sportsline (5.00) DFSR and FantasyTeamAdvice both had Mitchell Trubisky, and all three had Deshaun Watson.

WR – DFSArmy (10.00) knocked it out of the park with both of their selections of Tyler Boyd and Sterling Shepard.

TE – DFSArmy (10.00) also hit with their TE recommendation of George Kittle.

DST – GoingFor2 / DailyOverlay – Cash Index / DailyFantasyNerd / Sportsline (10.00) all had either the Bears or Packers D/ST with their lone selection.

Study Time – Week 4

If we are going to give a gold star to the top experts of the week, we also need to determine which experts might need to put in some extra study time to pull up those grades. Here are the Week 4 experts that didn’t make the grade this week.

  • Rotoball (Score: 2.10) posted six “F” grades out of 10 selections as they were let down by players such as Jordan Howard, Keenan Allen and the Seahawks D/ST.
  • FantasyLabs (Score: 2.65) ended up with half of the 20 recommendations receiving a “D” or “F” grade including Jordan Howard, Michael Thomas, Kelvin Benjamin and Rob Gronkowski.

Extra Credit – Week 4

In this section, I will look to give some extra credit to experts that received an A+ grade for a player that they recommended when very few other experts did. Week 4 extra credit goes to the following…

A+ – Corey Davis (FantasyTeamAdvice)
A+ – Sony Michel (FantasyAlarm, FantasyPros)
