Tuesday night features a full 15-game slate of MLB action and there are a ton of pitching options that I want to use. So, while I will give my top three options below, I also have interest in Justin Verlander, Kyle Hendricks and Jason Vargas. Just a reminder if you didn’t read my article yesterday, I will be limiting my writeup of the players so that I can start to focus more time on our upcoming NFL content.

We will provide one piece of free content each weekday during the MLB season. This On the Hill article will be free on Mondays and Tuesdays but will be part of the premium content the rest of the week. Let’s mow down the competition 3 Up and 3 Down…

3 Up

Ace

Jacob deGrom (FD-$10,100 / DK-$12,600)
DeGrom just shut down the Phillies less than a month ago, allowing no runs in 6+ shutout innings with nine strikeouts. That was on the road in Philly, but he has been even better at home in his career with a 2.17 ERA (2.86 this season). Phillies’ hitters have been limited to a .213 wOBA while striking out 26.1% of the time against DeGrom in 115 career plate appearances. He is a sizable favorite and should get strong consideration as your primary Cash game pitcher.

Value

Danny Salazar (FD-$9,400 / DK-$9,700)
If you are looking to save some salary on DraftKings than you can possibly pivot away from DeGrom and focus on Salazar at almost a $3,000 savings. The Indians are red-hot winning 12 straight games and should have no trouble taking care of the White Sox tonight as a huge road favorite. The White Sox have a 30.1% strikeout rate over the last 14 day against right-handed pitchers giving Salazar the biggest strikeout upside of any pitcher on the slate. He is an excellent GPP option and potential Cash game option on DraftKings.

Darkhorse

Michael Wacha (FD-$6,900 / DK-$6,900)
Wacha is a safe value play who has a solid floor but limited upside. He gets a great matchup against the Padres in San Diego on Tuesday. The Padres continue to be one of the worst offenses in baseball with a 24.8% strikeout rate and bottom two wOBA and wRC+ against right-handed pitchers over the last 30 days. A quality start and win are very likely for Wacha making him a solid #2 pitching option on two-pitcher sites in Cash games.

3 Down

Top Stacks

Rockies vs. Ty Blach
Blach has allowed 19 runs over his last four starts including six home runs. A trip to Coors Field on Tuesday will not help improve those numbers. Blach has limited left-handed hitters this season but righties have got to him especially on the road with a .400 wOBA and 2.08 HR/9. Stack up the Rockies righties at reasonable prices all things considered.

Nolan Arenado (FD-$4,300 / DK-$5,200)
Trevor Story (FD-$3,600 / DK-$3,800)
Ian Desmond (FD-$3,300 / DK-$4,000)
Mark Reynolds (FD-$3,600 / DK-$4,100)

Royals vs. Anibal Sanchez
Sanchez has allowed at least four runs in four of his last five starts including 10 home runs during that stretch. He has allowed production from both sides of the plate giving up a .369 wOBA and 2.29 HR/9 to lefties and .415 wOBA and 3.05 HR/9 to righties this season. Any of the top seven hitters in Royals lineup is fair game.

Mike Moustakas (FD-$3,000 / DK-$4,000)
Whit Merrifield (FD-$3,500 / DK-$4,100)
Eric Hosmer (FD-$3,500 / DK-$4,600)
Melky Cabrera (FD-$2,700 / DK-$3,700)

Contrarian Stack

Yankees vs. Jeremy Hellickson
With so many good stacking options, I expect the Yankees playing on the road with Gary Sanchez out of the lineup to be lower owned than many other stacks. However, they are in a good spot going against Hellickson who has allowed six or more runs in three of his last four starts including eight home runs. He has had trouble with the long ball all season posting a 1.78 HR/9 to lefties and 1.89 HR/9 to righties. The Yankees have the power to take advantage.

Aaron Judge (FD-$3,900 / DK-$4,800)
Didi Gregorius (FD-$3,200 / DK-$3,900)
Brett Gardner (FD-$3,700 / DK-$4,100)
Starlin Castro (FD-$2,900 / DK-$4,200)
