Pitchers
Ace
Max Scherzer (FD-$11,000 / DK-$10,200)
Scherzer is the king of the hill on the Friday night slate as the only true ace-caliber pitching option. He’ll face his old club the Nationals in DC, what a fitting start to his Mets career. Fit him in if you can but I’m okay with going down to either of the next two options to save some salary and fit in some more bats.
Value
Charlie Morton (FD-$9,000 / DK-$8,400)
Morton is the biggest Vegas favorite on the evening slate pitching at home for the Braves against the Reds. Look for the Braves to even the score with the Reds on Friday night after losing their home opener. I think Morton is the best bet to get to six innings for the quality start on the night slate.
Darkhorse
Jose Berrios (FD-$9,300 / DK-$8,900)
Berrios will throw the opener at home for the Blue Jays who also come in as a favorite against the Rangers. I have the Rangers with one of the highest strikeout rates against righties based on their projected lineup which could give Berrios a slight bump to his 26.8% strikeout rate with the Jays last season.
Hitting Connections
I have mentioned and toyed around with my “Suited Connectors” concept for a couple of years and this season I plan to go “all-in” with the strategy. The premise is to use 3 or 4 mini team stacks using 2-3 players who are near each other in their lineup when building your DFS lineup. I feel this lineup construction is very versatile and can be used in Cash lineups, Leagues (3, 5, 20-man), Multipliers (3x, 5x), Single-Entry GPPs, and 3-entry Max GPPs. It gives your lineup both a high floor and high ceiling potential.
