Week 5 Hot Sheet
Top Plays
QB
- Patrick Mahomes (KC) – The Chiefs/Vikings matchup has the highest Vegas total on the slate, so consider paying up for Mahomes, if possible, in Cash games. The Vikings’ pass defense has been middle of the road against QBs this season but hasn’t faced a QB the caliber of Mahomes yet. No Chiefs on my WR list but take a shot on Rasheed Rice in GPPs.
- Tua Tagovailoa (MIA) – It is another week to go all-in on the Dolphins’ offense including Tagovailoa against the Giants. The Giants’ pass defense numbers only look decent because of low volume and we know the Dolphins never take their foot off the gas.
- Matthew Stafford (LAR) – Stafford has been slinging the rock this year with over 300 passing yards in three of four games. The matchup this week against the Eagles has the second-highest Vegas total. Meanwhile, the Eagles have struggled against the pass allowing 279 yards (28th) and 2.3 TD passes (30th) per game this season. A cheap option to consider in Cash or GPPs.
RB
- Bijan Robinson (ATL) – Robinson has only scored one touchdown this season and still has reached over 20 DK points in three of his four games. Look for him to get in the end zone this week against the Texans who have allowed 1.3 rushing TDs (28th) per game to RBs this season.
- David Montgomery (DET) – Speaking of touchdowns, Montgomery has been a touchdown machine with five rushing scores in three games. He should continue to hit paydirt with the Lions as a big home favorite against the Panthers who have given up 120 rushing yards (30th) and 1.5 TDs (31st) per game to RBs this season.
- De’Von Achane (MIA) – Both Achane and Raheem Mostert are viable options this week and you can even try to play them both together against a Giants run defense that has allowed 116 rushing yards (29th) on 4.33 YPC (22nd) and 1.3 TDs (28th) per game to RBs this season. Fins Up!
- James Conner (ARI) – Conner has been a workhorse for the surprising Cardinals with 70 touches through four games. He will continue to get feed at home against the equally surprising Bengals (for different reasons) who have allowed 111 rushing yards (27th) on 4.89 YPC (28th) to RBs this season.
- Breece Hall (NYJ) – It sounds like the Jets are going to start to unleash Hall from his early season limits. If that is true then he is in a smash spot with increased volume against the Broncos. The Broncos have allowed a league-high 153 rushing yards and 1.8 TDs per game to RBs this season. Wheels up!
WR
- Justin Jefferson (KC) – The matchup on paper against the Chiefs pass defense doesn’t point to using Jefferson at his high price tag. However, with the game at home and in a potential shootout or with the Vikings playing catchup to the Chiefs there is no reason Jefferson won’t put up his usual big numbers with over 100 yards and a score.
- JaMarr Chase (CIN) – The Bengals are a mess right now which leads me to believe they will lean heavily on their best player like they did two weeks ago when Chase got 15 targets. He’ll face a beatable Cardinals secondary that has allowed some big plays to WRs giving up 14.4 YPC (27th).
- Jaylen Waddle (MIA) – Just like the RB position for the Dolphins, both Waddle and Tyreek Hill are viable options. With all the attention to the running game and Hill, it just feels like a Waddle week. He makes for a great GPP pivot off of the RBs and Hill.
- Puka Nacua (LAR) – The Rams might get Cooper Kupp back this week which only improves the Rams passing game and still keeps Nacua as an excellent option. The Eagles have allowed 16 receptions (26th) for 185 yards (23rd) and 1.5 TDs (27th) per game to WRs.
- DeAndre Hopkins (TEN) – Hopkins is on the cusp of a breakout game this season. He has steadily received targets and is due for some positive touchdown regression. He’ll face a Colts secondary that has allowed 16 receptions (26th) for 196 yards (28th) and 1.3 TDs (22nd) per game to WRs this season. Great Cash option with some GPP upside at his price.
- Zay Flowers (BAL) – Flowers has at least 48 yards in all four games and like many other WRs on this list is “due” for a touchdown. It could come this week against the Steelers who have allowed 15.5 receptions (24th) for 217 yards (29th) and 1.5 TDs (27th) per game to WRs this season.
- Michael Wilson (ARI) – Wilson is becoming a bigger part of the Cardinals passing game with each week. He had a season-high seven targets last week which he turned into 76 yards and two scores. His big play ability matches up well against the Bengals who have allowed 13.8 YPC (25th) to WRs. A cheap option to consider in Cash or GPPs.
- Wandale Robinson (NYG) – Robinson is the cheap WR to consider in Cash with 11 targets over the last two weeks. The Giants should be passing often to try to keep up with the Dolphins and the short underneath throws to Robinson should be what is open while playing catch-up.
TE
- Sam LaPorta (DET) – LaPorta is having a great start to his rookie campaign with at least four receptions and 39 yards in all four games. His volume could even increase this week if Amon-Ra St. Brown misses the game. LaPorta has a favorable individual matchup against the Panthers according to PFF.
- Dallas Goedert (PHI) – Goedert is a “hunch” play this week. His matchup against the Rams is good, but not great. However, he has been missing in action so far this season and there has been some chatter about getting him more involved. I’m calling for a “get right” week for Goedert.
- Zach Ertz (ARI) – Ertz has at least six catches and eight targets in three of four games this season. He’ll face a Bengals defense that has given up 5.3 receptions (20th) for 55 yards (23rd) and 0.8 TDs (29th) per game to TEs this season.
