MLB – On the Hill – July 27

Just a five-game slate for Thursday night in the MLB. The small slate seems to be better suited to focus on GPP lineups and scaling back on your daily DFS allotment. Pitchers consist of a hodgepodge (yeah, I went there) of high-priced options that don’t appear to be in good situations, middle priced options that don’t offer much upside and cheap options that consist of pitcher I haven’t even heard of before. That said, I was able to find a few options that I am willing to roster.

MLB – On the Hill – July 26

The DFS baseball season is certainly a grind. You start out every day with a blank sheet of paper or an empty spreadsheet that you need to populate with data and notes as you evaluate matchups, recent trends, Vegas lines, BvP, weather and even umpires before bringing it all together into a few lineups that you feel good about. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose and sometimes it rains to quote Bull Durham. But then you wake up the next day and it is as if it never happened. You have another blank sheet of paper or empty spreadsheet to fill out all over again. To keep the movie theme going it has a little bit of a Groundhog’s Day feel to it. But just like Groundhog’s Day, you can learn a little bit from each day to make tweaks to your process and try to achieve the perfect day. While I’m still waiting to have my “perfect day” in DFS, I do enjoy the grind and challenge that each new day brings as the blank sheet of paper and empty spreadsheet stare at me each morning.

Monday’s recommendations are for the 10-game main (night) slate. Hope you enjoy the grind and have your own “perfect day”.

MLB – On the Hill – July 25

It should be an interesting night on Tuesday for the 14-game slate of MLB action. There are a ton of mid-level pitching options on the slate so ownership percentages could vary greatly. So, picking the right pitcher could be the key to success. Without having to worry much about ownership percentages, I’m just going with […]

MLB – Industry Expert Consensus – July 24th

Monday night’s MLB slate features 12 games. While the top pitching option is obvious according to the DFS experts, the hitting side appears to be quite spread out with only six teams on the stack list.

The Weighted Consensus for the MLB is where we publish a more in-depth version of the MLB Consensus rankings every day that considers each expert’s current DailyOverlay score to generate a Weighted Consensus ranking.  To calculate the Weighted Rank Score, each expert’s DailyOverlay score for hitters and pitchers is weighted on a sliding scale from 1 to 5 with the top expert in the current standings being weighted with a five while the last place expert is weighted with a one. This method gives the higher rated experts picks more weight when compiling the overall player rankings for the day. We will include all players that generate a Rank Score of at least 6.0.

MLB – On the Hill – July 24

It looks like you are going to need to pay up for some pitching on the 12-game Monday night slate. I have no confidence or good gut calls on the cheap pitching options. In fact, they all just make me sick to my stomach. I’m sure one or two of them will pitch well but […]

MLB – On the Hill – July 21

Friday night is a night with a few top end pitching options to sort out and some bottom end pitching options to pick on. The 14-game slate should be an interesting one that has a wide range roster construction options. My three stack options tonight might all be popular or they might all be contrarian as it’s a tough slate to figure out where ownership percentages will be.

MLB – Industry Expert Consensus – July 20th

After four afternoon games, we are just left with a five-game night “main” slate on Thursday. The top pitching options seem pretty cut and dry but which teams to stack some hitters from is wide open with six of the 10 teams playing tonight on the stackable list.

MLB – On the Hill – July 20

Thursday’s picks will focus on the five-game night slate. It is an interesting slate with some pretty good pitchers throwing in games with high Vegas run totals. The pitching side of things might be pretty chalky with an obvious ace option and likely popular value pitcher to pair him with on two-pitcher sites. However, my Darkhorse pick comes from one of those high Vegas total matchups.

MLB – On the Hill – July 19 (Main)

Wacky Wednesday continues with an eight-game, wait DraftKings is missing a game?!?! Apparently, they decided to leave off the one late night game between the Nationals and Angels for some odd reason. So, I guess these are the picks for the seven-game “main” slate for DraftKings and eight-game “main” slate for FanDuel. Note that I do like Gio Gonzalez for GPPs and some of the Nationals’ bats on FanDuel. Once again the commentary will be abbreviated with writing double duty on the split slate.
