MLB – On the Hill – July 19 (Early)

Welcome to a wacky Wednesday of MLB DFS. With day games, night games and a late night game the DFS sites are all over the place with the way they broke up the slates. For example, the “early” slate on FanDuel only consists of four of the afternoon games, excluding the 3 pm starts. They do know they have late swap these days, right? Meanwhile, Draftkings has a nice full early slate with all seven games, so this article will focus there. Don’t worry Draftkings, I’ll criticize you about your “main” slate when I write up that article later today. Anyway, my articles will be a more abbreviated version today with a little less commentary since I have double the work.

We will provide one piece of free content each weekday during the MLB season. This On the Hill article will be free on Mondays and Tuesdays but will be part of the premium content the rest of the week. MLB – On the Hill – July 18

Monday night was a difficult slate to navigate the pitching options as expected. Tuesday night’s 15-game slate doesn’t look to be much better. We do have Clayton Kershaw on the slate but with such a huge salary he could be difficult to fit in. There are about six teams that I like for stacks but […]

MLB – Industry Expert Consensus – July 17th

We kickoff the start of the first full week after the All-Star break with a big 12-game Monday night slate. While there seems to be an obvious choice at pitcher who to pair him up with on two-pitcher sites is open for debate. The hitting side leaves a little more to the imagination with eight different stacks including seven with either three or four players.

The Weighted Consensus for the MLB is where we publish a more in-depth version of the MLB Consensus rankings every day that considers each expert’s current DailyOverlay score to generate a Weighted Consensus ranking.  To calculate the Weighted Rank Score, each expert’s DailyOverlay score for hitters and pitchers is weighted on a sliding scale from 1 to 5 with the top expert in the current standings being weighted with a five while the last place expert is weighted with a one. This method gives the higher rated experts picks more weight when compiling the overall player rankings for the day. We will include all players that generate a Rank Score of at least 6.0.

The MLB Weighted Consensus article will be part of the premium content every day except Wednesday and the weekend this season. Sign up now for a FREE 7-day trial so you don’t miss any of the content here at DailyOverlay.

MLB – On the Hill – July 17

Ah, it was good to have baseball back over the weekend! Some one-off plays from my stacks on Friday performed well, but the stacks as a whole fell short on a big scoring night. Monday night’s 12-game slate could be another big scoring night with a lot of gas can pitchers taking the mound. As […]

MLB – On the Hill – July 14

Wow, that was a lengthy hiatus from writing and playing DFS. I enjoyed my “vacation” which included a week-long family reunion with my wife’s family and then a bunch of landscaping around our house. I did manage to make it to a couple baseball games (first-place Brewers and the St. Paul Saints) and spend some time starting to prepare for the upcoming fantasy football season. While it was nice to get some time away from the grind that is MLB DFS it is sure nice to be back at it for Friday night’s 15-game slate.

MLB – On the Hill – June 30

Chalk another one up for BvP (or PvB in this case) as Ubaldo Jimenez silenced the Blue Jays’ bats once again. File that nugget away for the next time he faces the Jays. Today’s “On the Hill” article will be my last one until after the All-Star break as I will be on vacation next week. I’m going to send you off with a double dip of contrarian stacks for Friday’s 15-games slate with one somewhat contrarian option and one very contrarian option to consider. Enjoy the 4th of July holiday!

MLB – On the Hill – June 28

Yuck! I am not a fan of Wednesday night’s 13-game slate. There are not any pitchers that I feel comfortable with and even the stacks didn’t scream “Play me!” like they sometimes do. If that is not a ringing endorsement to sign up for our Premium Content to read which pitchers and stacks I did finally land on, I don’t know what is. Maybe things will crystalize as the day progresses but if you have a strong read on a pitcher, hitter or stack go with it and “hope for the best” as ownership may be all over the place tonight.

MLB – On the Hill – June 27

We have a full slate of 15 games for Tuesday night which looks like a fun night for some DFS action. There are a lot of intriguing pitching options from high-priced aces to value arms in good spots but I’m going to stay “home” with my pitching recommendations. As usual with a 15-game slate there […]
