MLB – Industry Expert Consensus – May 18th (Early Slate)

We have a split slate on Thursday with a five-game afternoon slate and a five-game night slate. Here is the Industry Expert Consensus for the afternoon slate that is pretty limited with pitching options (just wait the night slate might be worse). Of course, when we have a lot of bad pitchers on the mound it also opens up a lot of good hitter stack opportunities and this afternoon is no different including three games with Vegas run totals over 10. So, there should be plenty of fireworks this afternoon.

The Weighted Consensus for the MLB is where we publish a more in-depth version of the MLB Consensus rankings every day that considers each expert’s current DailyOverlay score to generate a Weighted Consensus ranking.  To calculate the Weighted Rank Score, each expert’s DailyOverlay score for hitters and pitchers is weighted on a sliding scale from 1 to 5 with the top expert in the current standings being weighted with a five while the last place expert is weighted with a one. This method gives the higher rated experts picks more weight when compiling the overall player rankings for the day. We will include all players that generate a Rank Score of at least 6.0.

MLB – On the Hill – May 18 (Early) – Quick Picks

Thursday includes a five-game afternoon slate that is hard to find good pitching options. There is one game that could be low scoring so I’m going to grab both pitchers from that game. On the hitting side, there are plenty to choose from including some of the same teams as recent days (Cubs, Rangers) but I’m going in a different direction.

With the addition of weekday “day game” slates to DailyOverlay, I will try to write a “Quick Picks” article for early slates that includes just the players without the writeups to give you some options. Sign up for our Premium Content to read the full article.

MLB – Industry Expert Consensus – May 17th

An 11-game Wednesday night slate has another wind-aided game playing at Wrigley Field between the Cubs and Reds leading to the Cubs coming in as the most popular stack of the day. Pitching is a little dicier without any true ace pitching options, yet on starting pitcher has risen to the top in the eyes […]

MLB – On the Hill – May 17

I am changing up how I list my “3 Up” pitchers starting today. Previously, I would basically list the pitchers in order of salary but often times I would prefer my cheaper pitcher as my second option in Cash games on two-pitcher sites and my Value picks as just a GPP flier. So, going forward I will be listing my recommended #2 Cash game pitching option as my Value pick and my GPP flier option as my Darkhorse selection. As you will see, this is how things laid out for Wednesday’s 11-game night slate. I also have a way “off the board” gut call on a Contrarian sta

MLB – On the Hill – May 16

We have a nice complement of ace pitching options for the Tuesday night 13-game slate. A nice change of pace from the options we had to struggle through last night, although a few of them didn’t pitch too poorly. Unfortunately, two of the best pitchers from last night threw against my top two stacks (Mets/Dodgers), […]

MLB – Industry Expert Consensus – May 15th

Seven games on the Monday night “main” slate with the Ray/Indians game starting an hour early NOT on the slate. Unfortunately, this knocks out the best pitching options throwing today and leaves us with a bunch of random mid-priced options for the experts to try to pick from. Of course, with limited good pitching options, there are plenty of solid hitters choose from including six stackable teams.

MLB – On the Hill – May 15

It is a shame when the best two pitchers on the Monday night slate, aren’t actually on the Monday night slate. What do I mean? The Indians insist on starting their games an hour earlier than the rest of the world so the matchup between Chris Archer and Carlos Carrasco is only on the “full […]

MLB – On the Hill – May 12

Friday’s full 15-game slate features Clayton Kershaw pitching at Coors Field. The good side of this is that Kershaw’s salary is depressed from where it usually resides, however, the bad side is the game total in Colorado tonight is under 10 runs and limits any desire to use Rockies bats. While Kershaw is always an option even when pitching at Coors Field there are a few other solid pitching options worth strong consideration on the slate.

MLB – Industry Expert Consensus – May 11th

We have a larger than normal nine-games slate Thursday night with a dirt cheap pitcher receiving the most recommendations. Which is perfect if you want to stack up hitters at Coors Field with one team racking up an unprecedented 9 hitters on the Consensus list. Last time I checked there is no DH in the National League so at least one of those hitters will not be starting but everyone else is in play apparently.

MLB – On the Hill – May 11

Well, I sure picked the wrong “ace” on last night’s slate, who would have though the Blue Jays’ offense would match their season high in runs with eight. Not me. Pitching could be tricky on tonight’s nine-game slate as I feel like there are a few trap spots with some of the higher priced pitchers and picking from the low salary options feel like you are just asking for trouble. Not sure which was worse going to the dentist this morning or trying to find three pitchers I like. I did manage to find a couple of options but don’t be shocked if a random pitcher you didn’t even consider comes out of nowhere with a Top 3 score. On the hitting side, I have my first “gut call” stack in a while.
