This will be the last Lineup Construction article before we all take a break for the All-Star game. Let’s see if we can end the first half of the season on a high note!

Here is a list of the “rules” we are following when constructing lineups:

  1. We will make two separate lineups for each site (FanDuel and DraftKings), one for Cash games and one for GPP tournaments.
  2. For Cash games, we will build the core of our lineup from the Consensus list using any player listed regardless of what tier they are in and will be allowed to choose 1 player that is not on the Consensus list that we consider to be a good play.
  3. For GPP games, we are allowed to choose up to add 2-3 players that are not on the Consensus list to help complete a hitter stack or we consider to be a good play.
  4. We can modify any lineup as we see fit for any late-breaking lineup news that opens up good options even if they are not on the Consensus list.

As always be sure to check for late-breaking news regarding weather and lineups.

Cash Game Lineup

DK Cash

Cash Narrative – I prefer Fernandez in Cash games tonight because I think his floor is higher than Sale due to his strikeouts. I’ll pair him with the only value option on the Consensus tonight in Shoemaker who I do like with big strikeout upside against the Orioles. I was able to get a nice mix of value, upside and hitters batting near the top of the order with the hitters on the Consensus list tonight including Justin Upton priced at just $2,300 against a lefty in Toronto.

GPP Lineup

DK GPP

GPP Narrative – I love the chance for Sale to get a complete game tonight, maybe a shutout, maybe a no-hitter which would pile up the points needed in a GPP. Pairing him with Shoemaker again. Going with a “suited connectors” concept tonight with a pair of Tigers (Upton/McCann), Marlins (Stanton/Ozuna) and White Sox (Abreu/Frazier) then rounding my hitters out with home run upside in the middle infield with Kipnis and Correa.

Cash Game Lineup

cash

Cash Narrative – Lock me up for not following our rules tonight! But this is a cash game and Sale and Fernandez are the two largest favorites in the best matchups on the board. I don’t know how you can’t consider rostering both in cash games. I think if people would’ve made their picks after lineups were released we might see a different Consensus and I think Jed Lowrie in the leadoff spot against his old team would be right up there. Anyway, I had to save some salary and Grant Green follows that path too. Carrera is my 3rd off the board play, yes, against the rules, but I needed a Blue Jay against that whiffle ball of a man in Mike Pelfrey.

GPP Lineup

GPP

GPP Narrative – So I’ve thrown out all of the top aces for my GPP tonight, of which I did follow the rules. Both of my pitchers are off-the-board plays and I absolutely think Jon Gray has a chance to dominate. He’s been very unlucky and has terrific stuff. Kazmir, well, he’s a very large favorite as well despite the Padres whipping up on lefties this season. I don’t know if Kaz pitches lights out, but if he can go 6 IP, 3 ER with 6 Ks and limit walks, I’ll take that at his price. Justin Upton is my favorite value play of the day as he was one of my BvP picks for tonight, along with McCann and Big Papi, who I think goes underowned a bit with all of the aces and the name of which he is pitching against, Chris Archer. Good luck all, see you after the break!
