MLB Consensus Lineup Construction – June 8

Stephen raked with his FantasyDraft Cash game lineup yesterday posting a score of 140.9 which finished in the top 3 of his 113 entry 50/50. That lineup also would have finished very well in GPPs. Unfortunately, I was unable to cash on DraftKings with either of my lineups Tuesday but I have a good feeling about tonight unless the Cardinals let me down again.

Here is a list of the “rules” we are following when constructing lineups:

1. We will make two separate lineups for each site (FanDuel and DraftKings), one for Cash games and one for GPP tournaments.
2. For Cash games, we will build the core of our lineup from the Consensus list using any player listed regardless of what tier they are in and will be allowed to choose 1 player that is not on the Consensus list that we consider to be a good play.
3. For GPP games, we are allowed to choose up to add 2-3 players that are not on the Consensus list to help complete a hitter stack or we consider to be a good play.
4. We can modify any lineup as we see fit for any late-breaking lineup news that opens up good options even if they are not on the Consensus list.

Cash Narrative – Giancarlo Stanton for $3,000? I know he’s been bad but I’ll take it. Thor should destroy that Pirates lineup and hopefully the Cardinals can solve Alfredo Simon better than they did John Lamb.

GPP Lineup

GPP Narrative – A Cardinals stack again tonight.  I’ll take the 1-4 in the lineup and hope for some big hits. Off the board plays with Piscotty and Calhoun.

Cash Narrative – I don’t usually like to have four hitters from the same team in my lineup but the Cardinals should rake against Alfredo Simon tonight so I stacked up their top four hitters, including an off the board play with Piscotty (Six Cardinals on the Consensus and he isn’t one of them?). I was also able to get big bats from the Consensus at all of the other spots since I’m going with value at both pitchers spots tonight with two pitchers (Garcia/Maeda) who should both be solid and pick up wins.

GPP Lineup

GPP Narrative – I’m “connecting” four pairs of hitters from four teams with high implied run totals (Cardinals, Yankees, Rangers, Marlins) with Marcell Ozuna as the only off the board play. While I’m going fairly “chalky” with my bats, I’m going contrarian with my pitchers with Walker and an off the board play of Madison Bumgarner.

Cash Narrative – Cardinals, Rangers, Yankees and Bryce Harper. That’s my theme for tonight in cash games. I was saddened to hear Profar was not in the Rangers lineup, but if you were liking the multiple position Profar offered, it is gone as of today, so at least you don’t have to worry about trying to fit him or Odor in at 2B. We get to pick on Big Pasta in Cincy, the wind is blowing out to right in New York, and it is hot and humid in Texas, all viable reasons to target those three teams. Maeda is too cheap to ignore at home against the Rockies and Max is the top pitching option on the board against the lowly Chicago White Sox. I can’t use Syndergaard tonight at this price due to the fact that the Pirates don’t strike out a lot. Sorry Thor, back to Asgard you go.

GPP Lineup

GPP Narrative – Yu is my favorite pitcher play of the night. People should be scared of him not receiving a full allotment of pitches. While Bannister may hold him back some, he should see 95-100 pitches. I think that’s enough to go 6 and strike out 8-10 Astros, who are potent but whiff a lot. I am following Brad’s footsteps with his darkhorse play of Taijuan Walker, whom I also liked with this upside and cheap price tag. My other off-the-board play is the red hot Robbie Grossman for value against the inconsistent Wei-Yin Chen. I paired him with the red-hot Eduardo Nunez who should be underowned on FantasyDraft due to a stiffer price tag. Good luck all!!
