We have a full slate of 15 games for Tuesday night which looks like a fun night for some DFS action. There are a lot of intriguing pitching options from high-priced aces to value arms in good spots but I’m going to stay “home” with my pitching recommendations. As usual with a 15-game slate there are plenty of hitting stacks to consider and two of my top three I don’t expect to be very popular but are in a good spot to put up some runs.

Let’s mow down the competition 3 Up and 3 Down…

3 Up

Ace

Max Scherzer (FD-$12,000 / DK-$13,000)
I am comfortable paying up for the high-priced Ace pitcher on a slate when there are value pitchers I like that I can pair him with on two-pitcher sites and when there is a large slate of games where I will be able to find some value bats. Both of those situations occur tonight so I’m going to roll with Scherzer has my Ace option. Scherzer has been dominate with six straight double-digit strikeout performances with a 0.94 ERA during that stretch. He will face a Cubs’ team that has struck out 22.3% (11th highest) against righties while ranking in the bottom seven in wOBA and wRC+. Scherzer in Cash and GPPs on every site as a home favorite.

Value

Jhoulys Chacin (FD-$7,800 / DK-$6,800)
When you pay up for Scherzer you need a good value pitching option to pair him with on two-pitcher sites and Chacin fits perfectly. I am also okay with his opponent, Sean Newcomb, but prefer Chacin pitching at home with a longer track record. Speaking of home, Chacin has been absolutely dominate at home this season with a 1.72 ERA while allowing just a .220 wOBA in seven starts. He might not accumulate a lot of strikeouts needed in a GPP but he makes a perfect Cash game compliment to Scherzer.

Darkhorse

Justin Verlander (FD-$9,300 / DK-$8,400)
Verlander has not the same pitcher he was a year ago with just a 4.52 ERA this season and 22.3% strikeout rate. However, I see some signs that he could put together a dominate performance in his matchup with the Royals tonight. Verlander has been much better at home than on the road this season with a 2.19 home ERA and .273 wOBA allowed. He flashed his strikeout upside in his last start with 11 punchouts over 5 2/3 innings against the Mariners. Verlander has also pitched well against the Royals tossing seven innings with five strikeouts and one run in a start in Kansas City at the end of May. Since 2015, Verlander has held Royals’ hitters to a .267 wOBA with a 20.9% strikeout rate. Give Verlander a shot in GPP lineups.

3 Down

Top Stacks

Blue Jays vs. Kevin Gausman
The Blue Jays’ hitters are very reasonably priced, especially on DraftKings for a team that is playing at home with the biggest Vegas run total going against Gausman. Gausman has an 8.02 ERA over his last four starts (6.47 on the season) and has allowed 35.8% hard hit rate with a 31.3% line drive rate over those starts. Right-handed batters have a .418 wOBA and 1.70 HR/9 off Gausman this season.

Josh Donaldson (FD-$3,800 / DK-$4,100) – Donaldson has doubled in each of his last two games and carries a .366 wOBA and .252 ISO versus righties this season.
Justin Smoak (FD-$3,500 / DK-$4,400) – Smoak is riding a 10-game hitting streak and has a .375 wOBA and .309 ISO at home versus right-handed pitching this season.
Jose Bautista (FD-$3,900 / DK-$3,900) – Bautista is heating up with eight hits over his last four games including a home run. He has a .360 wOBA and .218 ISO versus righties this season.
Steve Pearce (FD-$2,900 / DK-$3,400) – Pearce is batting .429 over his last seven games since returning to the lineup and is 3-for-5 with a walk off Gausman in his career.

Marlins vs. Robert Gsellman
With so many solid stacking options on the slate, I don’t expect the Marlins to be very highly owned. Yet they are in a great spot against Gsellman and the Mets. Gsellman has allowed seven runs in back-to-back starts and has a 6.04 ERA (7.71 on the road) this season. The Marlins have also hit him very well early in his career.

Marcell Ozuna (FD-$3,900 / DK-$4,000) – Ozuna has a .455 wOBA and .367 ISO at home versus righties this season and has crushed Gsellman going 4-for-8 with three homers.
Giancarlo Stanton (FD-$4,100 / DK-$4,100) – Stanton has two homers over his last three games and is 5-for-7 with a homer off Gsellman.
Justin Bour (FD-$3,000 / DK-$3,700) – Bour has a .390 wOBA and .283 ISO at home versus right-handed pitching this season.
Dee Gordon (FD-$3,000 / DK-$4,000) – I am also okay with including Christian Yelich here but will go with Gordon at a tougher position to fill with a stolen base and run scored upside.

Contrarian Stack

Brewers vs. Tim Adleman
The Brewers will get some ownership but much like the Marlins, it will be suppressed on a large slate with so many good options. The Brewers have owned the Reds this season scoring 53 runs in seven games (7.6 per game). Adleman has given up at least one home run in each of his last five starts and has allowed 1.70 HR/9 this season.

Eric Thames (FD-$3,100 / DK-$4,200) – Thames has been a one-man wrecking crew against the Reds this season batting .440 with eight home runs and 13 RBIs in seven games.
Travis Shaw (FD-$3,600 / DK-$4,200) – Shaw is an Ohio native and is batting .318 with a homer in five games versus the Reds this season. He has a .394 wOBA and .276 ISO versus righties this season.
Eric Sogard (FD-$3,100 / DK-$3,900) – Sogard continues to bat leadoff and get on base with a .462 OBP this season and .441 wOBA versus right-handed pitching.
Keon Broxton (FD-$2,900 / DK-$4,200) – Broxton in the middle of a hot streak with two homers and two steals in his last three games. He has a .356 wOBA and .267 ISO on the road versus righties this season.
