Monday night looks like a fun, entertaining 10-game MLB slate with a variety of ways you can go when constructing your DFS lineups. There is a little bit of everything from high-priced aces to cheap value arms with upside on the mound and a nice mix of stud hitters and value bats in good hitting environments to consider stacking. It could be a wild night!

Let’s mow down the competition 3 Up and 3 Down…
3 Up
Ace
Justin Verlander (FD-$11,700 / DK-$13,300)
While there is a handful of high-priced pitching option on Monday’s slate, I’m going all the way to the top since I also like some of the value pitching options to pair him with on two-pitcher sites and there are plenty of value bats to make his higher salary work. Verlander has been consistently good all season posting a quality start in all but one of his 16 starts this season while posting a 32.0% strikeout rate. He is a huge Vegas favorite pitching at home against the Blue Jays, a team that he has put up a 32.4% strikeout rate against their hitters over 136 career plate appearances. Verlander in Cash games for the cash.
Value
Seth Lugo (FD-$5,900 / DK-$7,100)
Despite his last two outing which was tough road starts in Arizona and Colorado, Lugo seems to have turned a corner this season with a 2.85 ERA and career-high strikeout rate (27.3%). He has also been significantly better when pitching at home over his career including a 0.90 ERA and .205 wOBA allowed over 30 innings this season. Lugo will be pitching at home on Monday against the Pirates who rank in the bottom four in wOBA (.280) and wRC+ (74) against righties over the last 30 days. Lugo is likely my #2 SP on two-pitcher sites and worth a flier in GPP lineups on any site.
Darkhorse
Vince Velasquez (FD-$8,100 / DK-$6,600)
Outside of one blow-up outing against the Brewers when Velasquez allowed 10 runs, he has pitched well over his last nine starts allowing two runs or fewer six times and striking out least six hitters six times during that stretch. Monday’s matchup with the Yankees has upside potential facing a team that doesn’t hit as well on the road as they do at home and will be without the DH visiting an NL park. The Yankees also have the 7th highest strikeout rate (24.4%) against right-handed pitchers over the last 30 days. While Velasquez is too risky for Cash games, he makes for a perfect GPP option with strikeout upside and low ownership.
3 Down
Top Stacks
Mariners vs. Andrew Cashner
The Mariners are my favorite stack of the night as you can use them to fill in the holes from whatever your secondary stack is. Any of the hitters 1-7 are viable options including players like Ryon Healy, Mike Zunino and Dee Gordon in addition to the list below. They’ll face Andrew Cashner who has allowed a .360-plus wOBA to both sides of the plate at home this season. Both lefties and righties have also had success taking Cashner deep on the year.
Nelson Cruz (FD-$3,900 / DK-$5,200) – Cruz is riding an eight-game hitting streak over which he is batting .452 with four homers. He has also had success against Cashner going 6-for-13 with three doubles and a homer.
Mitch Haniger (FD-$3,400 / DK-$4,900) – Haniger has posted a .361 wOBA and .250 ISO against righties this season.
Kyle Seager (FD-$2,900 / DK-$4,100) – Seager is batting .333 with two homers in 21 career at-bats against Cashner.
Jean Segura (FD-$3,700 / DK-$4,900) – Make sure Segura is in the lineup before using him but if he is he’ll bring his .375 wOBA on the road against righties and his .308 average in 26 career at-bats against Cashner to the plate.
Padres vs. Cole Hamels
Hamels has struggled at home this season with a 4.91 ERA and .356 wOBA allowed. Righties have especially had their way with Hamels in Texas with a .365 wOBA and big 2.68 HR/9. The Padres have plenty of right-handed power-hitters to take advantage of a favorable park adjustment and the home run prone Hamels.
Christian Villanueva (FD-$2,900 / DK-$3,800) – Villanueva has elite power and has crushed lefties this season with a .495 wOBA and .500 ISO.
Hunter Renfroe (FD-$2,500 / DK-$3,600) – Renfroe has three hits including a homer over his last two games and has a .357 wOBA and .233 ISO against lefties this season.
Wil Myers (FD-$2,700 / DK-$4,500) – Myers recently returned from the DL and has moved right into the top of the Padres lineup. His price tag is especially intriguing on FanDuel.
Jose Pirela (FD-$2,300 / DK-$3,100) – Pirela is dirt cheap on both sites and will hit in the top half of the Padres lineup while helping fill a difficult 2B position.
Contrarian Stack
Dodgers vs. Duane Underwood Jr.
I don’t know much about Underwood but looking at his minor league numbers I am not impressed with his mid-4 ERA and low strikeout rate (sub-20%). So, give me the left-handed hitting Dodgers at home as a sneaky stack.
Joc Pederson (FD-$3,100 / DK-$4,200) – Pederson’s salary has finally started to rise but he continues to hit righties well with a .413 wOBA and .320 ISO this season.
Cody Bellinger (FD-$3,800 / DK-$4,300) – Bellinger has five hits over his last three games including three home runs (two on Sunday), ride him while he’s hot.
Max Muncy (FD-$3,900 / DK-$4,700) – Muncy has homered in back-to-back games and maintains a .402 wOBA and .328 ISO against righties this season.
Yasmani Grandal (FD-$2,900 / DK-$3,800) – Grandal at home against a righty has a .381 wOBA and .250 ISO, by far his best splits every year.
