It’s a great day for baseball, so let’s play two! Two slates that is with a split Thursday lineup that includes five early games (four on FD for some reason?!?) and then a five-game nightcap. I’m going to pull double duty and provide an abbreviated On the Hill article for each slate, starting off with the five-game early slate of MLB action. There are really only two pitchers that I want on the early slate so only two pitcher recommendations you will receive. On the hitting side, I prefer not to use full team stacks as much so instead of stacks I’ll give my top couple plays at each position. If you “must” stack then the teams I would target include the Twins, Reds, Phillies and Marlins.

Let’s mow down the competition 3 Up and 3 Down…

3 Up

Ace

Jose Berrios (FD-$9,500 / DK-$10,600)
I like to roster Berrios when he is pitching at home where his ERA is almost a run and a half lower during his career. I really like to roster Berrios when he is a big home favorite as he is on Thursday. I love to roster Berrios when he is pitching at home as a favorite against the White Sox who he has dominated so far in his young career allowing a minuscule .220 wOBA with a massive 37.3% strikeout rate in 99 career plate appearances by White Sox hitters. Berrios had his best outing of the season at home against the White Sox when he tossed seven scoreless innings with 11 strikeouts. Lock him in for both Cash games and GPPs.

Value

Jameson Taillon (FD-$7,800 / DK-$8,100)
I’m likely 100% on Berrios on FanDuel where only one pitcher is needed but on two-pitcher sites, the second option is also clear cut with Taillon. Taillon was dominating in his last start throwing eight innings of shutout ball with six strikeouts against the Cardinals. He’ll be at home as a small favorite against the Dodgers on Thursday afternoon. Taillon likes the daylight during his career with an 8-1 record while posting a 2.75 ERA and 9.1 K/9 in 15 career afternoon starts. Use Taillon as your #2 option on all two-pitcher sites in Cash and GPPs.
