We have finally reached the end of the work week and top it off with a seven-game NBA slate. The slate tonight looks like a good one for points and fantasy production with every game coming in with a Vegas total over 206, including three games over 219. It looks like a difficult slate to find deeply discounted value options so more of a balanced lineup construction might be in order, so I might be fading both Russell Westbrook and James Harden in Cash games. Note that I said “might” as I’m still hopeful more value will present itself before tipoff.
The grid below is a snapshot of today’s slate that shows the overall rating for each position for each team. The numbers highlighted in red are the positions that are in the top 25% of their position for the slate and indicate good plays. Meanwhile, the numbers highlighted in blue are the positions that are in the bottom 25% of their respective position for the slate and are positions to avoid. To get a full rundown of the numbers behind the rating, check out my first NBA Hot Sheet article of the season.

Hot Sheet for October 27th
Droppin’ Dimes
Stephen Curry (GS) – Curry has posted at least 28 points in each game this season, yet is only shooting 36.5% from three-point range so far. He should continue to jack up threes tonight against a Wizards’ team that has allowed the 5th most three-point attempts to PGs this season in a game with the highest Vegas total. Curry could also get a few extra minutes with Shaun Livingston out.
Kristaps Porzingis (NYK) – Porzingis has taken well to his role as the primary option in the Knicks’ offense this season averaging 25.3 points per game while taking almost 20 shots per contest. He should get plenty of opportunity on Friday against the Nets who have the highest pace in the league this season and have given up the 2nd most points and 4th most rebounds to opposing PFs.
LaMarcus Aldridge (SA) – Aldridge has also taken on a lead role in the offense for the Spurs this season with Kawhi Leonard out. Aldridge is averaging 26 points per game which would be a career-high. Continue to ride him while his usage is high with Leonard out in a good matchup against the Magic who have allowed the 6th most points and 8th most rebounds to opposing PFs.
Kyle Lowry (TOR) – Lowry has played very poorly so far this season averaging just 12.8 points per game on 37.5% shooting. Part of that I think is just circumstances with an early-season schedule that included a game against the defensive-minded Spurs and two blowouts that produced lower minutes than normal. Look for Lowry to have his best game of the season on Friday against the Lakers who play at a fast pace (2nd) in a game with a high Vegas total that should be fairly close.
Caris LeVert (BKN) – I want some exposure to the Nets side of the Knicks/Nets matchup as well and LeVert has been one of the more consistent options in the Nets’ offense this season. He takes on a bigger role with DeAngelo Russell likely out. LeVert has averaged 13.7 points, 5.0 rebounds and 4.3 assists over this last three games and gets a favorable matchup against the Knicks who have allowed the 2nd most points and 4th most rebounds to opposing SFs this year.
Spencer Dinwiddie (BKN) – With Russell out in the Nets last game, Dinwiddie played 32 minutes against the Cavaliers and scored 22 points with five rebounds and six assists. Dinwiddie should get the start and play similar minutes if Russell remains out tonight against the Knicks, making him a solid value option at PG.
Jeremy Lamb (CHA) – Lamb has scored between 15-17 points in each of the Hornets four games this season while averaging over 32 minutes per game. He continues to start with Nicolas Batum out and has been a steady source of value early on in the season. He will face a Rockets’ team that struggles to defend the wing, especially with Trevor Ariza out.
Enes Kanter (NYK) – Kanter played his best game of the season in his last outing with 16 points and 19 rebounds against the Celtics while playing a season-high 30 minutes. He walks into another favorable matchup on Friday against the Nets who have allowed opposing big men the 3rd most points and 6th most rebounds this season. Sounds like another double-double for the Knicks big man.
Jakob Poeltl (TOR) – Poeltl is only an option if both Jonas Valanciunas and Lucas Nogueira miss another game on Friday. With increased minutes in the last two games, Poeltl has averaged 11 points and 13 rebounds per game. His salary is still small but his opportunity could be big against the Lakers who have allowed the most rebounds to opposing centers this season.
Tim Hardaway Jr. (NYK) – There aren’t many numbers or the Hot Sheet grid to support selecting Hardaway who has been brutal this season averaging just 9.3 points per game while shooting an abysmal 24.3% from the field. However, the career 42.4% shooter who averaged over 14 points per game last season should get on track and have a breakout game soon and I’d rather be one game early than one game late when the breakout happens. Hardaway is only a GPP option.
