Only one day of grading for the NBA last week with the All-Star festivities providing a long pause to the NBA season. However, one day was enough to produce a new leader in the Overall Standings again. Also, we have created new “rules” to follow when we build lineups from the Industry Consensus list.
In this article, I will give a brief recap of each day we gathered and graded the experts, including how the Industry Consensus picks did, highlighting which experts were at the top for the day and which players were only called out by one or two experts, but produced an “A+” grade. I will also review the overall standings and highlight the top experts so far this season. You can view the full NBA Overall Standings here. And finally, I will publish results of our new Lineup Construction initiative.
As a reminder, we are currently gathering selections and publishing the NBA Industry Consensus articles and NBA Consensus Lineup Construction articles each Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday during the NBA season, so be sure to check back about an hour or so before the first game tips off to get a look at the consensus picks and sample lineups for the day.
On to the grades!

They had seven “A+” grades out of their eight selections. They had Consensus plays such as Damian Lillard, Jrue Holiday and Anthony Davis, but also hit on some off the radar selections of Monta Ellis, Rudy Gay, and Jahlil Okafor.

Overall Leaderboard
We have now completed 17 weeks of the NBA season. You can view the full NBA Overall Standings here.
#1) DailyRoto (Score: 4.90) jumps into first place in the overall standings with a strong second place showing on the only grading day of the week. We’ll see if they can hold their narrow lead with a full week of NBA action upcoming.
#2) RotoGrinders NBA Grind Down (Score: 4.88) remains in second place as they were jumped by DailyRoto into first place while FakePigskin fell just percentage points behind them. The Grind Down had a very solid third place showing on Friday.
#3) FakePigskin (Score: 4.88) fell two spots in the overall standings down to third place with a very poor last place finish on Friday to drop them out of the top spot. We’ll see if they can bounce back with a strong showing this week to move back up the standings.
The Daily Overlay Industry Consensus picks (Score: 4.54) had a strong day on Friday with a fourth place finish to improve their DailyOverlay score for the season. Overall, the Consensus picks remain solidly in 6th place in the overall standings out of a total of 14 experts graded this season.
Let’s see which experts can make the grade this week in the NBA!
Consensus Lineup Construction Review
As I mentioned last week, we have decided to change up the “rules” regarding how we utilize the Industry Consensus article to try to build winning lineups since the first set of rules that we were following were not yielding profitable results. The new rules we will follow were started last Friday in the Lineup Construction article.
Here is a list of the new “rules” we will follow when constructing the lineups:
- We will make two separate lineups for each site (FanDuel and DraftKings), one for Cash games and one for GPP tournaments.
- For the Cash lineup, we will build our entire lineup from the Consensus list, but be able to use any player listed regardless of what tier they are in.
- For the GPP lineup, we are allowed to choose up to two players that are not on the Consensus list.
- We can modify any lineup as we see fit for any late-breaking news updates that open up good options even if they are not on the Consensus list.
The results of those lineups will be provided in this section each week.
Weekly Results
FanDuel
Day | Cash Score | Cash Place | Profit(Loss) | GPP Score | GPP Place | Profit(Loss) | Picks By |
Friday | 274.1 | 62/100 | ($1.00) | 270.7 | 22,158/34,682 | ($1.00) | Stephen |
Cash game lineup was strong but, unfortunately, had Alex Len at Center who was a late scratch.
DraftKings
Day | Cash Score | Cash Place | Profit(Loss) | GPP Score | GPP Place | Profit(Loss) | Picks By |
Friday | 252.5 | 88/100 | ($2.00) | 283.25 | 1,372/4,310 | ($2.00) | Matt |
The GPP lineup outperformed the Cash lineup on Friday but was not quite enough to cash on a high scoring night.
Overall Results
We will need to give the new set of rules a few weeks before we can determine if there has been an improvement over the first set of rules. Watch for our results in the coming weeks.
