This week, the PGA Tour swings through Northern Virginia for TIGER’s tournament, the Quicken Loans National.  It’s an invitational event featuring 120 golfers as opposed to the standard 156.  This event has traditionally been played at Congressional, but this year it moves to the Robert Trent Jones Golf Club.  The RTJGC has not previously held a PGA Tour event, so we don’t have a lot in terms of course history.  The course did host the President’s Cup a few times, but that was 10+ years ago, and I’m not sure you can read too much into those results given the time lapse and difference in tournament format.  As such, there isn’t really a strong consensus out there as to what stats you should be focusing on.  Most experts have just been defaulting to pedigree and/or form.  Strokes gained: tee-to-green and putting + Official World Golf Ranking will satisfy the pedigree component, total driving and proximity are two stats that seem course relevant, and I’ll point out a few guys at the end who have been hot lately.  That should give you a solid foundation to build your core around.
