Back for another week of MLB DFS action with a 10-game slate on Monday to start out the week. When analyzing tonight’s slate I have a feeling that there will be a lot of low scoring games as I like numerous pitchers. Also with the game at Coors Field threatened by rain and the Cubs coming off a late night with an 18-inning game on Sunday night, it feels like their bats could be a little sluggish even if the game plays in Colorado. So, while I am not recommending the Rockies bats tonight they could be a relatively low-owned option in GPPs with a tired Cubs bullpen if the game plays.

Let’s mow down the competition 3 Up and 3 Down…

3 Up

Ace

Jacob deGrom (FD-$10,700 / DK-$10,800)
Upon my initial look at the salaries, I felt that I would be recommending Carlos Martinez in this spot with a $1,000+ savings on both FanDuel and DraftKings. However, as I analyzed the pitchers and their matchups, I feel deGrom has a higher floor and ceiling with his matchup against the Giants. He will be pitching at home where he carries a career 1.97 ERA while allowing just a .245 wOBA. He has posted three double-digit strikeout performances this season, two of which came against the Nationals who have a similar low strikeout rate against righties like the Giants do. Lastly, the Giants just have not been hitting righties this season with the second-worst wOBA (.272) and worst wRC+ (68) in the league. So paying the extra $1,000 for deGrom might be the way to go in Cash and GPP lineups.

Value

Gio Gonzalez (FD-$8,900 / DK-$8,700)
Pitching Gio does not come without its risks, especially on the road in Baltimore against a team that can put up some runs. While I am not recommending Gonzalez for Cash games, he is an excellent GPP option tonight. He has big strikeout upside pitching against an Orioles team that is tied for the highest strikeout rate (26.3) in the league against lefties and has struggled some putting runs on the board against lefties with a bottom 10 wOBA and wRC+ this season. With a lot of other pitchers in the same price range or cheaper than Gio, he may go low-owned and be a difference maker in winning GPP lineups.

Darkhorse

Blake Snell (FD-$6,900 / DK-$7,400)
This pick could almost as easily be either Trevor Cahill or Snell’s opposition, Nate Karns, but I will go with Snell. He is a home favorite pitching against a Royals offense that has been horrible against lefties this season with a league-worst .231 wOBA and 40 wRC+ providing some safety you look for in Cash games as a #2 pitching option. He also has some upside with the Royals sporting a 23.1% strikeout rate. However, the real difference for Snell could be that the Royals only walk 7.5% of the time against lefties, which could allow the left-hander to get past the five-inning mark he has been stuck at his last five starts. Snell is a solid Cash game options on two-pitcher sites and potential GPP option.

3 Down

Top Stacks

Yankees vs. Rookie Davis
The Yankees continue to pile up runs and wins. They are coming off an 18-inning marathon against the Cubs on Sunday night so be sure to watch the starting lineup closely in case any regulars get the day off. That said, whichever Yankees are in the lineup should be able to feast off Reds’ rookie right-hander Rookie Davis who has a 7.36 ERA through his first four starts while giving up 1.84 HR/9.

Aaron Judge (FD-$4,500 / DK-$4,600) – Judge continues to crush the ball for the Yankees with 13 homers and a .317 average this season. He has hit 10 of his homers off righties and the Great American “Smallpark” could turn popups into home runs with his power.
Gary Sanchez (FD-$3,200 / DK-$4,800) – Sanchez is 3-for-9 since returning from the DL and didn’t start the marathon game on Sunday, so he will likely start on Monday. Sanchez has a .420 wOBA and .314 ISO versus righties so far in his young career.
Brett Gardner (FD-$3,500 / DK-$4,200) – Gardner is riding a nine-game hitting streak batting .375 with five homers over that stretch. He has a .404 wOBA versus righties so far this season.
Aaron Hicks (FD-$3,200 / DK-$3,300) – Hicks has batted second in each of his last four starts including against a couple of right-handers. Hicks has a .514 wOBA against righties so far this season.

Nationals vs. Kevin Gausman
Gausman gave up 5+ runs in each of his previous three starts prior to his early ejection against the Red Sox in his last start. He has been hurt by the long ball with six homers during that stretch. Bryce Harper is also an option, of course, if he returns to the lineup.

Ryan Zimmerman (FD-$4,600 / DK-$4,700) – Zimmerman has multiple hit games in seven of his last eight starts batting .553 with six home runs and 16 RBIs during that stretch.
Trea Turner (FD-$4,000 / DK-$5,200) – Turner has a career .383 wOBA against right-handed pitchers and should be ready to break out of his recent 0-for-13 stretch.
Daniel Murphy (FD-$4,200 / DK-$4,900) – Murphy is batting .358 against righties this season and has a .437 wOBA on the road against right-handers this season.
Anthony Rendon (FD-$3,200 / DK-$4,400) – Rendon has continued his power since with three-homer game on April 30. Since that game, he has hit .333 with two doubles and two more homers over his last six games.

Contrarian Stack

Indians vs. Marcus Stroman
Most people will feel like Stroman has been pitching well this season after his strong World Baseball Classic showing and 1.76 ERA through his first two starts of the season. However, since then he has a 5.25 ERA in his last four starts. Meanwhile, the Indians have hit righties very well this season with a .342 wOBA (4th) and 120 wRC+ (3rd) and should be off the radar for most DFS players.

Francisco Lindor (FD-$4,200 / DK-$4,600) – Lindor has a .414 wOBA and .388 ISO versus righties so far this season.
Edwin Encarnacion (FD-$3,100 / DK-$4,300) – Encarnacion returns to Toronto where he spent the previous seven seasons. He had a .395 wOBA and .279 ISO in Toronto against righties last season.
Jose Ramirez (FD-$4,000 / DK-$4,000) – Ramirez has crushed righties so far this season with a .454 wOBA (.351 last year).
Michael Brantley (FD-$4,000 / DK-$4,400) – Brantley, just like the rest of the Indians, is posting good numbers against righties with a .377 wOBA and .250 ISO this season.
