NFL Offensive Tendencies – Week 16

For a week where there are 11 divisional games and only three games with a favorite of a touchdown or more, there were still quite a few increased opportunities that presented themselves this week. Week 16 is spread out over four different days during the Christmas season including the main slate taking place on Christmas Eve (Saturday). I also stumbled across a game that has sneaky shootout potential in about the last place you would think to look.

If you are looking for a last minute Christmas gift idea then get that special someone a subscription to the Premium Content at DailyOverlay to get this full article along with many other great articles and features on the site.

So let’s get right to the numbers and analysis…

New York Giants @ Philadelphia Eagles

Projected Plays Pass Pass% Pass Yards Pass TD Run Run% Rush Yards Rush TD Score
New York Giants 61 37 60.7% 267 1.9 24 39.3% 97 0.6 21.0
Philadelphia Eagles 69 42 60.9% 253 0.9 27 39.1% 108 0.9 19.5

Look for the Giants to execute their typical play distribution on the road in Philadelphia this week. The passing game will be slightly more productive than usual with an increase in yardage and their opportunity for two touchdown passes. The running game will also find some success with an increase in yardage and an improved chance for a rushing score. The Giants pass 59% of the time in the red zone.

The Eagles will also execute their typical play distribution against the division rival Giants this week. The passing game will produce their typical yardage and chance for one touchdown pass. The running game will fall short of their typical yardage with a reduced chance for a rushing score. The Eagles pass 55% of the time in the red zone.

Increased Opportunities:

  • Eli Manning and the Giants passing game (Odell Beckham) (+)
  • Giants running game (+) – Hard to recommend either back (Rashad Jennings or Paul Perkins) with them splitting carries

NFL Offensive Tendencies – Week 15

Week 15 has an odd feel to it between cold weather games, divisional games and an inordinate number of games with a low Vegas total. All of this makes finding increased opportunities difficult and could make this a low scoring week in fantasy. I have a feeling that this week could be all about the running backs and defenses as the passing games have limited upside similar to last week when there was no standout QBs or WRs performances.

To find out who my Top Plays are for the week be sure to sign up for our Premium membership which includes both NFL and NBA content.

So let’s get right to the numbers and analysis…

Los Angeles Rams @ Seattle Seahawks

Projected Plays Pass Pass% Pass Yards Pass TD Run Run% Rush Yards Rush TD Score
Los Angeles Rams 62 39 62.9% 221 1.0 23 37.1% 74 0.6 12.6
Seattle Seahawks 60 35 58.3% 303 1.8 25 41.7% 139 1.1 22.1

Look for the Rams to pass more often this week as they are expected to be trailing the Seahawks in Seattle. The passing game will produce their typical passing yardage with their normal opportunity for one touchdown pass. The running game will fall just short of their normal rushing yardage with their typical chance for one rushing score. The Rams pass over 58% of the time in the red zone.

The Seahawks project to focus more on the running game this week at home as a big favorite. The passing game will still be effective throwing for more yards than normal with an increased chance for two touchdown passes. The running game will benefit from the extra carries to exceed their typical yardage with an increased likelihood for at least one touchdown run. The Seahawks run the ball over 58% of the time inside the 10 yard line.

Increased Opportunities:

  • Russell Wilson and the Seahawks passing game (Doug Baldwin) (+)
  • Thomas Rawls (++)
  • Seahawks defense (+)

NBA – Industry Expert Consensus – December 14th

Wednesday night features a big 10-game slate that has lost a little bit of its “star power” with everyone and their (DeMarcus) Cousins taking the day off for “rest”. There is also a wide gap between Vegas totals tonight with four games under 200 and one game (Nets/Lakers) around 230. Be sure to watch for any more late-scratches before lineup lock.

The numbers in the parenthesis are the number of experts that picked that player to give you more context as to the gaps between players and the tiers. Also listed projected ownership percentages for Cash and GPP leagues to help determine which players will be the chalk and which players could be a good low owned contrarian play.
