We will be producing sample MLB lineups during the baseball season like we started doing during the NBA season. These lineups will follow a certain set of rules for Cash lineups and GPP lineups. Matt(FanDuel) and Brad(DraftKings) will be the primary creators of the lineups each day with Stephen joining in on occasion. We will track our results and provide a summary each week.

Today with a big Opening Day split slate on DraftKings we will provide just DraftKings lineups, but look for both FanDuel and DraftKings lineups when the MLB schedule starts to normalize on Tuesday and beyond.

Here is a list of the “rules” we are following when constructing lineups:

  1. We will make two separate lineups for each site (FanDuel and DraftKings), one for Cash games and one for GPP tournaments.
  2. For Cash games, we will build our entire lineup from the Consensus list using any player listed regardless of what tier they are in.
  3. For GPP games, we are allowed to choose up to add 2-3 players that are not on the Consensus list to help complete a hitter stack or we consider to be a good play.
  4. We can modify any lineup as we see fit for any late-breaking lineup news that opens up good options even if they are not on the Consensus list.

Cash Game Lineup

UPDATED LINEUP – With the PPD between Cleveland and Boston, swap out Corey Kluber and Maikel Franco and swap in Raisel Iglesias and Daniel Murphy.

DK-Cash2-Apr4

Cash Narrative – Paying up for Scherzer felt like it would sacrifice too much on the hitting side so I went with good “value” plays in Bumgarner and Kluber, who I both like today. Ended up with a nice balance of hitters primarily from the Reds, Giants and Nationals.

GPP Lineup

DK-GPP-Apr4

GPP Narrative – I think that Scherzer will be lower owned in GPPs today as players look for other value plays and pay up for big hitter stacks. I went with two hitter stacks today with the Nationals as my primary stack using a couple “off the board” plays in Ryan Zimmerman and Anthony Rendon to fill it out. Then I combined that with two cheap consensus plays from the Reds (Mesoraco and Suarez) and completed the mini-Reds stack with a cheap off the board play in Duvall hitting right behind Mesoraco today.
