Thanks to Stephen’s big GPP day on Friday, we are that much closer to putting ourselves on the right side of things for the season. Tonight we get 11 games total with all but one beginning at 7:15pm or earlier. Be sure to check the weather prior to tonight’s games as there are a couple of potential trouble spots. Best of luck!
Here is a list of the “rules” we are following when constructing lineups:
- We will make two separate lineups for each site (FanDuel and DraftKings), one for Cash games and one for GPP tournaments.
- For Cash games, we will build the core of our lineup from the Consensus list using any player listed regardless of what tier they are in and will be allowed to choose 1 player that is not on the Consensus list that we consider to be a good play.
- For GPP games, we are allowed to choose up to add 2-3 players that are not on the Consensus list to help complete a hitter stack or we consider to be a good play.
- We can modify any lineup as we see fit for any late-breaking lineup news that opens up good options even if they are not on the Consensus list.

Cash Narrative – Is Ian Kennedy safe for a Cash format? We’ll see tonight. With the savings from Kennedy, I was able to pile up on bats. I’ll be keeping an eye on the weather so I may have to make some late switches. I’m not getting screwed like I did last week when I refused to make the switches and it bit me.
GPP Lineup
GPP Narrative – DeSclafani has been solid all season and provides a nice upside play. Stacks of Orioles and Cubbies fill out the lineup along with Profar and Tulowitzki.

Cash Narrative – As you will see with all of my lineups, I love Dallas Keuchel tonight. He’s at home (where he thrives) and is up against one of the worst teams vs. lefties. He’s by far my favorite play (can’t you tell?). Aaron Sanchez is a close second for favorite pitchers today, but I can’t sneak him everywhere because of his price. My one off-the-board play for this cash-game lineup is Preston Tucker, who is hitting second against the long-ball prone Pineda. The only thing I hate about this lineup is that it lacks any Blue Jay bats.

GPP Narrative – I am testing a theory for this DK GPP lineup. I feel like lately I see players priced and I think they are way overpriced, then they proceed to go out and ham it up. So this is my “Stephen’s Price is Right Theory.” Tonight I think the A’s are very expensive, especially Jake Smolinski, who is the primary reason for testing this theory. Valencia and the other Khris Davis are expensive, but maybe not overpriced too much considering the A’s own the Rangers year after year and this game is at the Ballpark. Peavy is my only off-the-board play here.

Cash Narrative – Another cash game with Keuchel and Sanchez anchoring my pitching staff. The Rangers provide a lot of cheap bats on FantasyDraft and Willson Contreras is almost a must-play in cash games having reached base in 29 of his first 31 games. I am cheating a bit with Tucker and Iglesias as off-the-board plays, but I can’t ignore their move up to the 2-hole in their lineups. Goldy should’ve made all of my lineups today, but there’s a lot of solid plays at first base and he’s a great fade candidate in tournaments, but not cash games.

GPP Narrative – Friday was a great day for my GPP lineups, finishing second overall in the MLB $1 Single, the very tournament I play every lineup construction day. It was my second top-5 performance in the past few weeks, so I hope to keep the momentum going tonight. I love the Rangers/A’s game tonight and I have a feeling ownership is going to be lower than it should be? Maybe I am wrong, but just a feeling I have, especially the A’s (due to their pricing). Anyway, Jake Peavy got lit up against the Reds for 7 ER last time he faced them, but logged a ton of Ks (as they are strikeout prone) and still managed solid fantasy production for his price, and he’s cheap again tonight in the most favorable pitcher’s park in the league. Love Jake Peavy tonight and no one seems to be on him. Very sneaky salary saver.
