Rough night for our lineups yesterday expect for Matt’s Cash game lineup on FanDuel which finished 2nd out of 100 lineups in a 50/50 with 183.8 points. It was tough for me to get back in the swing after taking a long weekend off from DFS over the 4th of July but now that I am back into it I expect better results with my DraftKings lineups tonight.

Here is a list of the “rules” we are following when constructing lineups:

  1. We will make two separate lineups for each site (FanDuel and DraftKings), one for Cash games and one for GPP tournaments.
  2. For Cash games, we will build the core of our lineup from the Consensus list using any player listed regardless of what tier they are in and will be allowed to choose 1 player that is not on the Consensus list that we consider to be a good play.
  3. For GPP games, we are allowed to choose up to add 2-3 players that are not on the Consensus list to help complete a hitter stack or we consider to be a good play.
  4. We can modify any lineup as we see fit for any late-breaking lineup news that opens up good options even if they are not on the Consensus list.

As always be sure to check for late-breaking news regarding weather and lineups.

Cash Game Lineup

fd50507.6

Cash Narrative – Cueto seems like the safest, most logical Cash game choice from the Consensus. Cron and Tulowitzki have been red hot. I’ll play three Jays and hope for a plethora of runs north of the border.

GPP Lineup

 fdgpp7.6

GPP Narrative – Stacking birds of all varieties tonight. I’ll go off the board for two right-handed swinging Cardinals outfielders in Grichuk and Holliday. Jeff Locke is not a very good pitcher but the Cardinals have a tendency to make bad lefties look like Sandy Koufax so let’s hope that’s not the case tonight. Hanley and Cano fill in my two roster spots after the two stacks.

Cash Game Lineup

Cash

Cash Narrative – Wanted to get Cueto in my Cash game lineup and paired him with Smyly who is riskier than Jaime Garcia but the extra $200 savings was needed so I’m going to roll the dice with him. Value is the name of the game on the hitting side by selecting many of the cheapest options from the Consensus list today.

GPP Lineup

GPP

GPP Narrative – Going with a big risk at SP tonight in my GPP lineup with an off the board play of Shelby Miller who was the Darkhorse pick in my “On the Hill” column today. I decided to pair him with a safer option with Garcia and by paying down at pitcher I was able to free up a ton of salary cap for hitters going with two chalky stacks (Blue Jays and Astros). All of the hitters were from the Consensus list including my only non-Astro/Jay hitter, Mookie Betts.

Cash Game Lineup

GPP

Cash Narrative – After Jake Odorizzi did his best Godzilla impression and wrecked my Cash Game Tokyo, I went with the top two pitchers for the evening, whom I love. Pineda is one my 7 BvP plays of the night. With this strategy, I had to pick the cheapest options available from our Expert Consensus. Josh Donaldson isn’t cheap, but he’s the best hitter in baseball and is at home and is facing a guy who has given up buckets of home runs on the road. This whole lineup is stacked against Ian Kennedy’s ridiculous flyball rate, so it’s kind of a GPP, but I think the BJs don’t get caught with their pants down.

GPP Lineup

 GPP2

GPP Narrative – Well I told myself before going into this lineup that I would play Garcia or Pineda with Smyly. Then I wanted to toy with trying to get in Red Sox, Astros and Blue Jays, the top 3 offenses of the night. So i could get 3 Sox, 3 Astros and 2 BJs. This forced me to go off the board with two plays I don’t really like at pitcher. However, Shelby Miller is a GPP pitcher against a strikeout-heavy offense, though Miller tosses beach balls to everyone (Miller is Brad’s darkhorse tonight, so I am trusting him again here). Stroman is facing a beat up Royals offense and has a lot of positive regression coming. He looked good against a streaky Indians’ squad last time out at home, so hopefully he can eat some innings and get the win, paying off his cheap salary. Good luck!
