We are now a month into the MLB season so we felt it was time to evaluate our Lineup Construction rules and process. The biggest issue we ran into was constructing our FanDuel lineups where it became impossible many days to fit a high-priced Ace pitcher into the lineup due to not enough value hitters on the Consensus list. So we are implementing a modification to our Cash game rules to allow for one “off-the-board” player to be selected which should help free up some salary cap to allow stronger pitcher selections on FanDuel.

The second change we are making is actually more of an addition, as Stephen will start providing a Cash and GPP lineup for FantasyAces each day we provide a Lineup Construction article using the Consensus list. We know that FantasyAces is a popular site and wanted to expand our coverage. Stephen’s first FantasyAces lineups are included in today’s article.

Here is a list of the “rules” we are following when constructing lineups:

  1. We will make two separate lineups for each site (FanDuel and DraftKings), one for Cash games and one for GPP tournaments.
  2. For Cash games, we will build the core of our lineup from the Consensus list using any player listed regardless of what tier they are in and will be allowed to choose 1 player that is not on the Consensus list that we consider to be a good play.
  3. For GPP games, we are allowed to choose up to add 2-3 players that are not on the Consensus list to help complete a hitter stack or we consider to be a good play.
  4. We can modify any lineup as we see fit for any late-breaking lineup news that opens up good options even if they are not on the Consensus list.

As always be sure to check for late-breaking news regarding weather and lineups.

Cash Game Lineup

Cash Narrative – New rules means that we can fit Keuchel into the lineup this evening. My off the board play was an Astro as well in Preston Tucker. Tucker provides the ability to go deep on any given night.

GPP Lineup

GPP Narrative – Stacks of Mets and Brewers for Monday. I decided to go off the board with Finnegan as my pitcher. He’s provided some solid value this season and has a tremendous strikeout upside. Other off the board play is Kyle Seager who has been hot after a rough start to the season.

Cash Game Lineup

Cash Narrative – A lot of stud players are reasonably priced tonight on DraftKings, in particular, the Blue Jays hitters who I feel are in a great spot at home against AJ Griffin. By paying down a little bit in my second pitcher spot with Colon, I was able to get a stud hitter at every lineup spot.

GPP Lineup

DK-GPP-May2

GPP Narrative – Started my GPP lineup with the two pitchers that I think will be low-owned and have big upside in Cole and Shields. On the hitting side, I wanted to stay away from the Mets as I expect them to be highly-owned, so I put together an Astros stack with two Consensus list plays in Altuve and Correa and added two off the board plays with Springer and Rasmus. As I said I love the Blue Jays tonight so I included the meat of their order and then used an inexpensive catcher in Vogt to round out my lineup.

Cash Game Lineup

Cash Narrative – I like this lineup view on FantasyAces, so for my first crack at lineup construction, you get the diamond view. Jon Gray is my favorite pitcher of the day. Cheap option with firepower in the high 90s against a paltry Padres team at PETCO. Gray has been lit up this year, but I don’t care, you can factor Coors into that equation. His ERA will come down and tonight could be that night. I have a few Mets in this lineup as I feel they will be the popular play tonight, though Foltyniewicz has some nasty stuff as well.

GPP Lineup

GPP Narrative – Off the board plays are Nieuwenhuis and Moreland. Love the Blue Jays against my Rangers with A.J. Griffin on the mound, I wanted to stack them with cheap pitching tonight as Griffin SHOULD get lit up against this lineup. I like the Giants today but I couldn’t make it work with a Duffy/Pence/Posey stack, but I would completely understand if you went that route. Odor/Moreland/Mazara against the knuckleball could be interesting also unless Dickey has it going tonight. Cargo is my top BvP play tonight as Shields is usually good for a HR or two a game. Good luck all!
