Big slate of 13 games tonight in the MLB but not many true ace level pitchers on the mound, so I expect the pitcher recommendations by the experts to be all over the board tonight. These kind of nights are when you might want to spread out your exposure a little bit between a group of three or four pitchers. With that here are some of the pitchers I recommend including in your pitching group for tonight.

Ace

Francisco Liriano (FD-$9,500 / DK-$9,800)

I am going to keep picking on the Padres until they prove that they can start hitting better. Liriano saves you over $1,000 from Stephen Strasburg on both DraftKings and FanDuel tonight and frankly Liriano is the pitcher I would prefer even if they were priced the same. Tonight’s game is also in San Diego where the Padres have a putrid .062 ISO and .207 wOBA through their first six games. Fire up Liriano in both Cash and GPPs tonight.

Value

Yordano Ventura (FD-$8,200 / DK-$8,200)

Ventura does not have an ideal matchup tonight against the Tigers potent lineup. However, the game is at home in Kansas City where Ventura has been slightly better during his career and the Royals are in a great position to win as one of the biggest favorites on the night going up against Tigers starter Shane Greene. Ventura is not a guarantee tonight but I like him better than the other middle-priced options on the board tonight.

Alex Wood (FD-$7,300 / DK-$6,000)

When looking for a second pitcher to pair with Liriano in Cash games on two-pitcher sites tonight, Wood should be at the top of your list. He has a lot of things going for him tonight. Wood is cheap at only $6,000 on DraftKings and is favored on the road against the Braves. Wood will be pitching against his former team so there should be some extra motivation. The Braves have the lowest ISO and wOBA against lefties so far this season at just .034 and .187 respectively. Wood is a good Cash game option on two-pitcher sites and as a GPP play.

Darkhorse

Logan Verrett (FD-$6,700 / DK-$5,600)

If you are looking for a contrarian GPP pitcher for tonight then Verrett might be your guy. He will be facing the Phillies and Vincent Velasquez who is coming off his monster 16 strikeout performance in his last outing. Thus, I expect Velasquez to be a fairly popular choose tonight, so going in the opposite direction with Verrett could be a good contrarian pivot. Verrett has only started five games in his big league career but he has been good in those starts with a 2.86 ERA and 25 strikeouts in 28 1/3 innings. In his only start this season he pitched six shutout innings with six strikeouts against the Marlins. I especially like the idea of using Verrett as your second pitcher on DraftKings in GPPs at only $5,600.
