My “On the Hill” articles this week will be a little more abbreviated while I am on vacation but I still plan to provide some solid selections for you to consider for your DFS lineups on FanDuel and DraftKings.
Ace
Chris Sale (FD-$10,900 / DK-$12,200)
I haven’t had much luck with my Sale recommendations this season but I am going to give it another go tonight and recommend Sale as the top Ace of the night. He has pitched better away from home so far this season with a 2.33 ERA on the road and a favorable park adjustment going to Safeco Park tonight. Sale is a viable option in both Cash and GPPs while I expect Jose Fernandez to be higher owned.
Value
Jon Lester (FD-$9,900 / DK-$9,400)
After four straight road starts Lester gets to come home tonight where he has a 2.32 ERA this season while allowing just a .258 wOBA and recording 9.95 K/9. He will face a Mets’ offense that has struck out 24.3% of the time to lefties which is the 2nd worst in the league and rank 19th in the league in wRC+ on the road this season. Lester could be used in Cash lineups if you want to pay down from the big three of the night and is a good GPP option.
Nick Tropeano (FD-$7,000 / DK-$7,900)
Tropeano has had a solid season so far with a 3.12 ERA and 8.95 K/9 over 12 starts. He will be pitching at home against the Rangers tonight who he has had some success against so far in his career allowing a .230 wOBA with 10 strikeouts over 55 plate appearances. Tropeano could be a solid #2 pitching option on two-pitcher site if you are looking for some salary relief.
Darkhorse
Aaron Nola (FD-$7,700 / DK-$8,300)
Nola has had a rough time lately with a 13.50 ERA over his last five starts and will be opposed by Marlins’ ace Jose Fernandez tonight which will drive down his ownership percentage. However, looking deeper at Nola’s stats over the last five games he still has a solid 3.81 SIERA and 10.5 K/9 and has been done in by an unlucky .515 BABIP despite allowing only a slight above average 33.8% hard hit rate. Nola is worth a flier in GPPs.
