We have a lot of teams in the MLB that are streaking right now with the Indians winning 19 straight games and the Dodgers on an 11-game losing streak. Coincidently, both of these teams have their Ace on the hill for Tuesday night’s 14-games slate with Corey Kluber and Clayton Kershaw, respectively. Both carry a hefty salary but I’m strongly considering trying to squeeze them both in on two-pitcher sites if enough value bats emerge when lineups are announced. So, today my hitter stacks will feature three sets of players at reduced prices to try to make fitting in both Kluber and Kershaw a reality.

Let’s mow down the competition 3 Up and 3 Down…

3 Up

Ace

Corey Kluber (FD-$11,800 / DK-$13,300)
If I am going to just use one of the Aces on the slate tonight it is going to be Kluber. The Indians are the biggest favorite I think I have ever seen in baseball with a Vegas money line over 400. Kluber and the Indians have been rolling and there is no reason to expect to end against the Tigers tonight. Kluber just shut down the Tigers allowing one run over eight innings with seven strikeouts in Detroit earlier this month. He will now face them at home where he has been even better than on the road this season. Kluber should be a lock in Cash games and you should have some exposure in GPPs.

Value

Eduardo Rodriguez (FD-$7,400 / DK-$6,700)
If you are not going to try to squeeze both Kluber and Kershaw into your lineup then Rodriguez is a strong, cheap option to consider. His performance has been a little bit erratic lately but he has good upside against the A’s. He held the A’s to one run over eight innings with eight strikeouts earlier this season and the A’s have the sixth highest strikeout rate (23.4%) against lefties over the last 30 days. He is a decent-sized home favorite which should give him a good chance for a win. He is a viable option in both Cash and GPP lineups.

Darkhorse

Clayton Kershaw (FD-$11,600 / DK-$13,000)
I have a feeling that Kershaw is going to take the Dodgers current losing streak personally and be dominate against the Giants on Tuesday night. He got roughed up in his last start against the Rockies and is the type of pitcher that is capable of elevating his game. He has had great success against the Giants over his career allowing just a .207 wOBA with a 22.8% strikeout rate against current Giants’ hitters. The Dodgers are still a huge favorite despite losing 11 in a row and could take out some frustration on the Giants tonight. I will definitely try to fit in both Kluber and Kershaw into a GPP lineup and may even try to make it work in Cash on two-pitcher sites.

3 Down

Top Stacks

Red Sox vs. Sean Manaea
Manaea has been significantly worse against right-handed hitters especially on the road this season allowing a .354 wOBA and 1.58 HR/9. The Red Sox have a nice collection of inexpensive right-handed hitters to consider.

Rajai Davis (FD-$2,400 / DK-$3,400)
Hanley Ramirez (FD-$3,000 / DK-$3,600)
Chris Young (FD-$2,200 / DK-$3,300)
Dustin Pedroia (FD-$3,300 / DK-$3,500)

Indians vs. Matt Boyd
Not only do the Indians have their Ace on the mound tonight, they are also facing a gas can pitcher in lefty Matt Boyd. Boyd has allowed at least four runs in five of his last seven starts. He has been especially bad against right-handed batters allowing a .373 wOBA and 1.45 HR/9. The Indians have a solid core of right-handed hitters batting in the bottom half of their lineup.

Yan Gomes (FD-$2,900 / DK-$3,400)
Brandon Guyer (FD-$2,500 / DK-$3,200)
Yandy Diaz (FD-$2,600 / DK-$3,300)
Austin Jackson (FD-$3,400 / DK-$3,900)

Contrarian Stack

Cubs vs. Robert Gsellman
Gsellman has posted a 7.44 ERA on the road this season while allowing a .378 wOBA and 1.65 HR/9. Left-handed hitters have done the most damage against Gsellman especially on the road where he has allowed a .441 wOBA and 3.29 HR/9 this season. The Cubs have a nice group of inexpensive lefties sprinkled throughout their lineup.

Alex Avila (FD-$2,500 / DK-$3,300)
Tommy La Stella (FD-$2,000 / DK-$3,200)
Jon Jay (FD-$2,500 / DK-$2,900)
Ben Zobrist (FD-$3,400 / DK-$3,400)
