Okay, I lied, one more day of freebies for the On the Hill article with Thursday’s split slate of four games each. As such, I’ll provide two articles today with abbreviated writeups, starting with the four-game early slate. There are three stud pitchers on the slate along with a cold weather game which makes stacking difficult. So, I’ll only have one stack in this article along with a few other one-off hitters that I like.

Let’s mow down the competition 3 Up and 3 Down…

3 Up

Ace

James Paxton (FD-$10,600 / DK-$10,900)
I’m fine with rostering any of the three high-priced aces on the Thursday afternoon slate. The one that I’ll give the edge to is James Paxton who is the biggest favorite as the other two, Stephen Strasburg and Noah Syndergaard square off against each other. Paxton will face an Orioles team that ranks 26th in wOBA, 24th in ISO, and 11th in K% against lefties over the last season-plus.

Value

Jakob Junis (FD-$8,200 / DK-$8,000)
I expect most people to use Eduardo Rodriguez over Junis in this spot. However, the weather will be cold (40 degrees) in Detroit with the wind blowing in during a battle of two offensively challenged teams. So, I’ll roll with Junis against a Tigers team that has ranked 30th in wOBA, 28th in ISO, and 9th in K% to righties over the last year-plus.

Darkhorse

Spencer Turnbull (FD-$6,200 / DK-$5,800)
I also like the flip side of the Royals/Tigers matchup with Spencer Turnbull. As I mentioned the weather conditions are favorable for pitchers and the Royals rank 23rd in wOBA and ISO against righties over the last season-plus. Meanwhile, Turnbull showed some strikeout promise in the minors with a double-digit K/9 rate. The price and game conditions are right for a potential breakout game for Turnbull.

3 Down

Top Stacks

Yankees vs. Alex Cobb
The only stack I’ll consider for Thursday afternoon is the Yankees against righty Alex Cobb. Cobb had some reverse splits last season giving up a .359 wOBA and 1.70 HR/9 to right-handed bats. He was also worse at home in Baltimore which is where this game will take place. Stack up the healthy Yankees’ righties.

Aaron Judge (FD-$4,900 / DK-$5,500)
Luke Voit (FD-$4,500 / DK-$4,700)
Gary Sanchez (FD-$4,000 / DK-$4,900)
Gleyber Torres (FD-$3,200 / DK-$4,900)

One-off Hitters

Mookie Betts (FD-$4,800 / DK-$5,400)
Nicholas Castellanos (FD-$3,500 / DK-$4,500)
Robinson Cano (FD-$3,800 / DK-$4,100)
Anthony Rendon (FD-$4,200 / DK-$4,100)
Marcus Semien (FD-$3,000 / DK-$3,600)
Ryan O’Hearn (FD-$4,400 / DK-$3,700)
Chad Pinder (FD-$2,200 / DK-$3,500)
Grayson Greiner (FD-$2,000 / DK-$3,200)
