CFB is back and we love it here at Daily Overlay. This week’s recap is a bit different than the ones will be moving forward. First off, we graded three slates in the opening weekend. Secondly, there is a bit of redundancy as the weekly “Head of the Class” is the same as the season’s overall leaderboard. With the season underway, here’s your Week 1 recap!

As a reminder, most of our CFB content will be part of our premium membership. Now is a great time to sign up for our premium content so you are all set for the football, CFB and NFL, season! Our premium membership will get you access to all of our content!

Be sure to come back each week for a review of the Industry Consensus picks highlighting the top (and bottom) grades for the week and season from the experts we are tracking.

On to the Week 1 grades, class is in session!

Consensus Recap – Week 1

The Consensus stayed consistent with last week. A 2.66 score positioned the Consensus in 8th out of the 16 experts that submitted selections.

Thursday (Score: 3.48 / Rank 11th out of 18) – Eight of the 25 plays to start the season scored “A” or better including six “A+” grades.

Friday (Score: 4.16 / Rank 8th out of 16) – Had a solid Friday night with seven “A+” grades in 25 plays.

Saturday (Score: 3.05 / Rank 15th out of 24) – Finished in the lower half on Saturday but still managed nine “A+” scores.

Head of the Class – Week 1

Each week I will highlight a few of the top experts for the week. Here are the experts that deserve a “gold star” for Week 1 based on their cumulative grades for all players they touted this week. Overall, the scores were a bit lower than the previous week.

#1) Daily Overlay Single Pick (Score: 6.67) topped the list with two “A+’s” and a failing grade for the weekend.

#2) RG Consensus (Score: 6.05) also had a strong week. Over half of their 19 plays scored an “A+” grade.

#3) Sportsline (Score: 5.45) hauled home five “A+” scores with their 11 selections on the opening weekend.

Head of the Class – Week 1 (By Position)

QB (Thursday) – Four Tied (10.00)

QB (Friday) – NumberFire (6.50) had a solid day at the QB position. Tua and Dungey provided “A+” scores while Dwayne Haskins and Trace McSorley scored “A” grades. As said above, they were the only site to play Dungey and his “A+” score.

RB (Thursday) – DailyFantasyInsider (10.00)

RB (Friday) – Five Tied (10.00)

RB (Saturday) – Awesomo (7.50)

WR (Thursday) – RG Consensus (4.33)

WR (Friday) – Sportsline (5.00)

WR (Saturday) – Awesomo (7.50)

Study Time – Week 1

If we are going to give a gold star to the top experts of the week, we also need to determine which experts might need to put in some extra study time to pull up those grades. Here are the Week 1 experts that didn’t make the grade this week.

  • FantasyLabs (Score: 1.25) struggled out of the gate in Week One.
  • Rotoworld (Score: 1.20) finished no better than a “B” grade with their five plays.

Extra Credit – Week 1

In this section, I will look to give some extra credit to experts that received an A+ grade for a player where they were the lone expert to recommend. Week 1 extra credit goes to the following:

A+ – Demetric Felton (RG Lineup HQ)
A+ – Isaiah Hodgins (Fansided)
A+ – Osirus Mitchell (Fansided)
