NBA – Hot Sheet – December 19

Wow! The Wednesday 12-game slate on the NBA hardwood is loaded with strong plays at the top and in the middle. Unfortunately, finding value is a little hard to come by as of Wednesday morning. Hopefully, that will change as news breaks leading up to tipoff tonight, as I want to get exposure to as many of the high-priced studs as possible.

The grid below is a snapshot of today’s slate that shows the overall rating for each position for each team. The numbers highlighted in red are in the top 25% of their position for the slate and indicate good plays. Meanwhile, the numbers highlighted in blue are the positions that are in the bottom 25% of their respective position for the slate and are positions to avoid.

NFL – Handicapper Results and Recap – Week 15

Week 15 was a struggle for the NFL handicappers who finished with a losing record for the week as a whole. As such, our Consensus picks also fell victim this week with a disappointing 1-3-1 record, although the free over/under bet on the Packers/Bears game did win. The ActionNetwork led the way this week with […]

NBA – Hot Sheet – December 18

The NBA slate on Tuesday night is just four games but it might as well be only a two-game set. There are two games with a Vegas totals over 225 points and two games with totals under 210 points. Take a wild guess where most of your exposure should be on Tuesday. Since it is […]

NBA – Hot Sheet – December 17

Piecing together a DFS lineup for Monday’s eight-game slate in the Association is proving to be difficult, at least early in the day. There is not a lot of definitive injury news yet, which limits our cheap value options on the slate, thus also making it difficult to recommend paying up for many high-priced studs. So, it could be a balanced lineup night depending on the news that crosses the wire as we head towards tipoff.

NFL – DFS Weighted Consensus – Week 15

The Week 15 NFL main slate consists of 11 games due to a pair of tilts on Saturday along with the usual trio of primetime matchups. Ownership could be fairly spread out on the slate this week so if you find some options that you like from the list of recommended plays by the experts then lock them in.

In this series, we will publish a consensus of NFL DFS expert’s recommendations that take into account each expert’s current DailyOverlay score to generate a Weighted Consensus ranking for each position. To calculate the Weighted Rank Score, each expert’s DailyOverlay score is weighted on a sliding scale from 1 to 5 with the top expert in the current standings being weighted with a five while the last place expert is weighted with a one. If you have ever wondered how to differentiate between two players who were both selected by the same number of experts, then this is the list you need. We also list the projected Ownership Percentages for Cash and GPP leagues to help you identify some players that could be good low-owned contrarian plays. We will include all players that have a Rank Score of at least 10.

This article is part of our premium content, so be sure to sign up to get this great snapshot of who the DFS Industry Experts recommend.

NBA – Industry Expert Consensus – December 14th

Friday serves up a nine-game slate of NBA action. The Weighted Consensus list for tonight gives a plenty of value options including the top two most recommended options on the list. We have just four games with a Vegas total over 220 points on the slate, so getting some strong value options will certainly help boost those DFS scores.

The Weighted Consensus for the NBA uses each expert’s current DailyOverlay score to generate a Weighted Consensus ranking. To calculate the Weighted Rank Score, each expert’s DailyOverlay score for players is weighted on a sliding scale from 1 to 5 with the top expert in the current standings being weighted with a five while the last place expert is weighted with a one. This method gives the higher rated experts picks more weight when compiling the overall player rankings for the day. We will include all players that generate a Rank Score of at least 10.0.

NBA – Hot Sheet – December 14

Friday night brings a solid nine-game NBA slate to start off the weekend. While there are some decent value options on the slate, I’m finding my lineup construction to focus a lot on the mid to high-range of salaries instead of a true “Studs & Duds” type of build. So, get your value then forgo the high-priced options for the next level of priced players to fill out your lineups.

NFL – Hot Sheet – Week 15

Last week didn’t go well for my DFS picks or Best Bets but everyone is allowed to have bad week once and a while, right?!? Of course, the great thing about DFS is one bad week can be quickly forgotten as we move on to the next slate of games to analyze and play. Week 15 of the NFL season is upon us which is the beginning of a couple Saturday games sneaking their way into the mix. See my game-by-game analysis, Hot Picks and Top Plays for the week no matter which slates you play.

Note: DVOA referenced in this article stands for Defense-adjusted Value Over Average which is a metric from FootballOutsiders.com.

So, let’s get right to the numbers and analysis…

Los Angeles Chargers @ Kansas City Chiefs

Team QB RB WR1 WR2 WR3 TE D Vegas
Los Angeles Chargers 63 70 42 34 73 67 45 53.5
Kansas City Chiefs 54 56 78 50 58 52 55 -3.5

Chargers

Injuries Notes

  • Melvin Gordon will be a game time decision but seems unlikely to play, opening up snaps for Justin Jackson
  • Austin Ekeler is out, opening up snaps for Justin Jackson

Running Game (4th): Justin Jackson will likely see a bulk of the workload unless Melvin Gordon can somehow suit up. Whoever totes the rock is set up for a good game against the Chiefs 32nd DVOA ranked run defense that has allowed 5.12 YPC (32nd) to RBs this season.

Passing Game (3rd): Philip Rivers may need to pass often to keep up with the Chiefs high-flying offense on Thursday night. He gets a slightly better than league average matchup as the Chiefs rank 15th DVOA against the pass while allowing 263 yards (22nd) and 2.5 TD passes (29th) per game over the last five weeks.

Top Targets: The best individual matchups for the Chargers receiving options are for Keenan Allen and Tyrell Williams. While TE Antonio Gates could make an impact in the red zone.

TD Predictions:

  • Justin Jackson (or Melvin Gordon) rushing
  • Philip Rivers to Antonio Gates
  • Philip Rivers to Mike Williams

Chiefs

Injuries Notes

  • Sammy Watkins is out, Kelvin Benjamin could get his first snaps with the team and Chris Conley will also fill in
  • Spencer Ware is doubtful to play, look for a committee between Damien Williams and Charcandrick West
  • Tyreek Hill is questionable but is expected to play

Running Game (20th): The Chiefs backfield has gotten ugly in a hurry with the Kareem Hunt situation and now Spencer Ware unlikely to play. Damien Williams and Charcandrick West will try to fill the role against a solid rush defense that ranks 16th DVOA while allowing just 4.00 YPC (10th) to RBs over the last five weeks. Although they have given up 1.2 TDs (29th) on the ground over the last five weeks.

Passing Game (12th): Patrick Mahomes will take on his second straight tough test against the Chargers pass defense that ranks 9th DVOA and has given up just 201 passing yards (4th) and 0.8 TD passes (2nd) over the last five weeks.

Top Targets: Look for Williams and West to be busy coming out of the backfield as the Chargers rank 19th DVOA against pass-catching backs. The WRs and Travis Kelce could have their hands full on the outside and down the middle against a good pass defense.

TD Predictions:

  • Charcandrick West rushing
  • Patrick Mahomes to Damien Williams
  • Patrick Mahomes to Chris Conley

Hot Picks:

  • Justin Jackson (**) – If Gordon is out
  • Philip Rivers (*)
  • Antonio Gates (*)
  • Charcandrick West (*)
