A full 15-game slate tonight with a lot of aces taking the mound. After weeding through them all I think you should save some salary and pay down to get one of the cheaper aces unless you can find a ton of value hitters to pay up for Clayton Kershaw.
Ace
David Price (FD-$9,400 / DK-$11,400)
Price is my second ranked pitcher tonight behind Kershaw but I will recommend saving the money on both FanDuel and DraftKings tonight and put Price into your Cash game lineups. Price is facing a Braves team that has as many home runs off lefties this season as I do, zero. They have stuck out at a 23.7% clip and have the worst wOBA (.235) against lefties this season. The “Price” is right tonight.
Value
Kyle Hendricks (FD-$7,300 / DK-$8,600)
Hendricks and the Cubs will face the Brewers at Wrigley Field tonight where the temperatures will be in the 40s with the wind blowing in at about 15-20 mph. The Brewers have struck out the 4th highest percentage against righties this season at 25.7% and the Cubs are significant favorites. Hendricks is a viable option in both Cash, on two-pitcher sites, and GPPs tonight.
Ubaldo Jimenez (FD-$7,400 / DK-$8,500)
Jimenez gets a favorable park adjustment tonight pitching in Tampa Bay and faces a Rays’ team that is striking out a the highest rate (28.3%) against righties this season including striking out seven times last night against Kevin Gausman. Jimenez has 10.6 K/9 through his first three starts this season and should be able to rack up 7-9 Ks tonight against the Rays. I prefer Hendricks at this price point in Cash but Jimenez could be a good GPP option.
Darkhorse
Edinson Volquez (FD-$8,200 / DK-$8,200)
On a night with so many aces and solid value options, there weren’t any cheap pitching options I liked tonight so I am going back to the well tonight after taking a beating with Ian Kennedy against the Angels last night. As the saying goes, “fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me.” I don’t think many people will go back to another righty facing the Angels after the results last night. I am not going to roll with Volquez in any Cash lineups tonight but he could be worth a flier in a GPP.
